Raymond Fol Big Band featuring Johnny Griffin, Jimmy Woode & Arthur Taylor – Vivaldi's Four Seasons In Jazz


I didn't even know this existed until I found this copy last weekend while digging through the small stacks of vinyl tucked away in the corner of the Hornby Island Free Store. Some killer featured players here - I'm a big fan of Johnny Griffin so seeing his name on the cover sold me again on something I was already sold on. This is definitely quite a bit different from the traditional and Max Richter versions I have on my classical shelf but I'm digging it!

Day 8: LA Primavera
Atmosphere - Sad Clown Bad Year

I have zero knowledge on classical music, but I assume Vivaldi's 4 seasons is made up of a piece for each season of the year. La Primavera being for spring, obviously. Back in the 00s, way before Weezer had the idea, Atmosphere released 4 EPs from their Sad Clown series (9-12) that were for each season. Sad Clown Bad Spring, etc... They also eventually released all 4 into one record, dubbed Sad Clown Bad Year.
