Canadaland shipping shenanigans (and other conversations too, eh?)

I wish bands on Bandcamp would at least put a little effort in trying to determine a shipping cost for their physical releases. I was just on there and a band that I won't name has shipping of a cd to Canada at $42 and vinyl at $56. Sorry but get fucked.

Received my first ever order from Le Noise out of Quebec, the records came in a pizza box, inside there was paper around the edges and the records were wrapped in bubble wrap! It also had a post it note saying thanks (my name)!

They shipped via Purolator because of the Canada Post strike, I ordered on November 28 and it showed up at my door today (December 3) so I guess that's good, not really all that experienced with online ordering I usually just get things from my local.

Prices were good or better than my local on a lot of things and the free shipping threshold for Ontario and Quebec is $99 ($119 for everywhere else except for NL, NWT and PEI which is at $129, for the US it's $129 CAD)

Overall a great experience but I do have another order that is in limbo at the moment stuck somewhere in the CP pipeline so I hope the pizza box holds strong on that one!

Le Noise is great! Their shipping is really fast to me so I always check their inventory among the first when looking for new releases. Plus the free shipping is easy to attain.

I believe Le Noise lets you stockpile your orders until you hit free shipping, which is great if you're patient :)
I believe high road up in North Bay area used to do that too.

EDIT: Looks like they don't anymore and they're threshold for free shipping is $129. Shame I used to routinely check them as they were pretty decent.

I have ordered a LOT from High Road over the last couple years. They have some really ridiculous deals sometimes.

Only other place I know that holds until you reach shipping threshold is Audiopile I'm Vancouver

Wonder if my two records I'm waiting for will arrive anytime before the new year, or if they're just going to be lost under a mountain of undelivered packages.

One things for sure though, there's a very good chance they'll be damaged when they arrive.
I have an order from Japan. It made it to Customs in Mississauga a few days before the strike. I had hoped it would be delivered before the strike but no such luck. Fingers crossed that the 2 records were not sitting at the bottom of a 500lb pile of mail for the last month.

Just got my errant package from Juno. Was a bit scared looking at the corner dings on the box but it turns out it was just the box. It did its thing as intended and the records seems cosmetically fine.
