College Football

Today is what college football is all about. I was at the 2004 Rose Bowl when Texas beat Michigan behind the amazing performance of Vince Young and by a last second FG. College football needs more games like today. I hope the playoff and realignment don't cause that to go away. We travel to Columbus next year.
 
Playing in Provo is no joke. Better Texas teams have had horrible times there. I didn't think BYU would be the superior of the two Utah schools now in the Big 12 this season. The Holy War should be a fun game. If BYU can come out of that unscathed, they have an excellent chance of going undefeated. Arizona State could be a tough one.

Longhorn Santa brought me a very nice victory today at the Cotton Bowl for my adult Christmas. Got to love when you can thoroughly dominate your rival for all but a FG. The 2:30 kick instead of the customary 11am due to the SEC move was not as fun given it was 94 today in Dallas. At least we brought cooling towels and the sun was behind us all game. Next week, Georgia in prime time. Austin should be on fire.

I'll have to try to catch this next BYU game on TV and see if it reignites my fandom a bit. Near the end of when I was there, it was all about the basketball team with Jimmermania is full swing.
 
Adult Christmas. Nothing like it in CFB. My brother and I talked about attending more rivalry games going forward. We're going to USC/UCLA at the Rose Bowl next month. We're planning to attend Oregon/Washington, the Iron Bowl, Ohio State-Michigan (probably do that in 2 years when it's back in Ann Arbor), and Army-Navy. One of my favorite things about the move to the SEC is getting A&M and Arkansas back as rivals. That's what college football is all about.



The best thing you can see as a Texas fan in the 4th quarter, half the stadium cleared out and headed back to Oklahoma.

My Illini get to get smoked by the new #1 Oregon on Saturday. Beating a crummy Michigan squad last week was fun but I don't think stuff will go. as smoothly this week.

The throwbacks they were wearing on Saturday were so great. Yeah Autzen is a tough place to play but don't give up hope. This is a weird year for college football and I doubt we'll have an undefeated left when the playoffs start.
