December 2021 Vinyl Spin Challenge Thread: ‘Tis The Season Of Giving

Day 14 - G.O.A.T.
Play something from someone considered one of the G.O.A.T.s in their field to celebrate Jay-Z’s birthday (it’s off by 10 days, I’m reaching here!)

This record was unleashed on the world on this day in 1979.

I'd consider a band that influenced punk, new wave, post punk, reggae, ska, rockabilly, funk and dub GOAT worthy.

The only band that matters...

The Clash - London Calling

Day 14

GOAT

Today I will go bluegrass/old timey
View attachment 121400Doc & Merle Watson - Ballads from Deep Gap

Doc was simply the best. I was fortunate enough to see him live before he passed.
I was at a Bob Weir/Chris Robinson/Jackie Greene show the night we lost Doc. They found out during the first set break and came out with an impromptu Doc cover to kick off set II.

Of course I was recording. The Doc tribute is track 14...

Day 11 - Sloth
Play something lazy

Broadcast - Work and Non Work
I had trouble with this one - couldn't really think of any lazy albums in my collection - but the album title and song names are very lazy sounding (even tho, its not really about laziness...)
Songs like: Message From home, We've got time, Living Room, According to no plan, The world backwards, Lights Out
If that doesn't sound lazy, i don't know what does.

Elliott Smith - XO

I am decidedly polytheistic when it comes to the arts, preferring crowded pantheons of favorites to crowning solitary gods, so I'll never tell you anything is my favorite or the best artist/band/album/book/movie. That said, one altar I will always keep lit is Elliott's.
