December 2021 Vinyl Spin Challenge Thread: ‘Tis The Season Of Giving

Day 21 - One-Hit Wonder
Play something lesser-known from someone mostly known as a one-hit wonder to celebrate Gangnam Style becoming the first YouTube video to hit 1 billion streams on this day 9 years ago

Blur - Blur

On this side of the pond, Blur were mainly that band with the woo-hoo song and (later) that guy from Gorillaz. (Just noticing this matches the prompts for days 21-23, which I'm catching up on today.)

Day 23 - 90s
Play something from the 90s

I really don't need a reason to get this one out for a listen.

I still feel like I need to stipulate that this is the OG pressing - released (and purchased) 2 weeks prior to the CD release. I'm surprised this one survived a college dorm and moving various times, including across the country.

This is probably one of my earliest records I own where I know exactly where and when I bought it. Before this I had a decent stack, but would pick them up randomly at various shops that blend together.

Day 24 - Holidays
Play something that puts you in the holiday spirit

I love soul Christmas albums. I have Sharon Jones' "It's a Holiday Soul Party", the "Soul Christmas" compilation and this one:

Kelly Finnigan - A Joyful Sound

What other albums would you guys recommend?

Day 24 - Holidays

It's a hard one this year, with COVID peaking at the perfect time to force me to cancel my Christmas plans and be on-call for emergency coverage, but sometimes Sufjan makes those things just a little bit better...well and a glass of EtOH as well.
