You're also answering my questions about the feelings I have regarding my Japanese pressing... I imagine vintage copies are probably all thin in parts like that one then.

Yes and the thing with that copy is there's one particular press which is supposed to be the best for some reason I've now forgotten and blah blah just get one and don't listen to me.

I'm looking at it now and I think it's a difference between the 2019 Visconti and the earlier master. But I can't remember what the difference was. Some earlier ones were pressed at RI and the rest Optimal I think? There's something else but it can't remember what I just remember that I couldn't be arsed to search for it so I got the JP because obi.

🤷‍♀️ I have an OG US, it sounds great. I bought the regular MOFI El Dorado because my OG was a G/G+ (it was a dollar, shut up)... I like the MoFI, but it is a little... i don't know... lacking.... like if my OG had been a VG+, I wouldn't even think it would compare... Most of my ELOs are OGs and sound fantastic.
 
Yeah, my discovery is some undisclosed reissue (early and Terre Haute) but the rest I have are OG and they are all great sounding. None were pricey. I pretty much grab them when I see them.

I really like the MoFi El Dorado. Sounded much better than my OG El Dorado on my system.

I'm like you and just buy them when I see them in the wild. Usually pretty cheap. Don't have a clean copy of Out of the Blue though. Need to relisten to (and re-clean) most of my other ELO albums. Time might be my favorite of their albums and I know I have the CBS half speed and an early pressing. Should give em a spin again soon but remember the early pressing sounding better than the CBS.
 
My father in law gave me an OG New World Record with a cool embossed cover, but it didn't sound as good as the one I already had, so I gave it to my daughter.

I have the Legacy reissue with MOV in the deadwax. It’s what you’d expect from a MOV pressing, sounds good, but I like the album enough to splurge on a MoFi.

I am pretty certain I have a clean Out of the Blue that id be happy to send to you if you’d like to cover shipping? I do owe you a $10 credit anyway lol

If you’re interested I’ll check later on the exact condition but I know for sure I have two and they were in fairly good shape, one of which the cover is still in the shrink.

I’d love it if they did a non one step standard
MoFi of it. Pretty much the only ELO album I’d want and I’d happily pay MoFi money, but absolutely wouldn’t want it for one step money.

No that is the remaster from the 5 Years box set. The 2019 Visconti mix has a slip cover over the sleeve that has a cut out for his face and says 2019 on it.

Buy both. All kidding aside, the 2019 is quite good in my opinion. Is it better than the original, it is tough to say. I have spent about 30yrs with a copy of the original so I know it inside out, but I do like the 2019 a lot. Its warmer and makes the best use of modern studio mixing techniques on what was very much an album of demos.
