shoulda grabbed more stuff from record city last year. Prices have really creeped up this year. More people are buying from Japan given the exchange rate here and I see more and more people selling Japanese pressings in the US at inflated prices

The exchange rate is the killer for us. The euro has tanked this last year. Plus the prices for some stuff has creeped up. I really should have kept RCJP to myself shouldn’t I 😂

for $15 more I’d say the MoFi would have been worth it for sure.

Newk’s time is a great record! I spent way too much on the disk union mono pressing of it recently even though it was relatively a good deal.

I could have sworn I read that the tapes are damaged on that one so a future reissue that’s AAA is unlikely.

I think it is SR Villiage Vanguard but who really knows anymore. Newk's was previously MMJ and unlikely for a TP.

Supposedly Joe made the statement on VV in some interview.
But also Joe has been adamant about no MMJs.
If the Newk's tape was so bad, how did KG/SH reissue it in 2012?
IMO both are worth grabbing if you can find good AAA cuts.


It's difficult to believe half of the stuff on the internet anymore 😃

Yea— I have both from the disk union series already. The newks thing isn’t just some forum post or tweet though, it’s from an actual article. so that’s why I took it a bit more than one of us just passing it off as fact.

And 2012 was 10 years ago already. Very possible something from the tape got damaged since then. Lots of records have been done one last time from analogue tapes (the KG Van Morrisons, Waltz for Debby, Charlie Brown Xmas all come to mind).

Whatever tape case it is, I ended up with one of these for fidy. Not the cheapest but my seller claims VG++. Always a fun cogs time to see what shows up LoL.

I actually pulled the trigger on it, along with IASW, this morning before coming on here. Let's just call it a present from Santa because I was a good boy. So at first I was worried there were only 2 copies left and I might lose mine - before I noticed it was ebay. Then I clicked the link... some people are such douchebags. Even $100 would have been pushing it.
 
Anyone with this press care to weigh in on quality? Or recommend a better press that isn’t expensive?

my 1971 original is pretty clean, but the cover is rough.
