Definitive Audiophile pressings

I go through peaks and valley with caring. Sometimes, if it was a cheap record, like my recent MOV copy of Mingus Ah Um, that I got from Deep Discount via Walmart for $14 that was deliver with a nice 2” split across the top, I am likely just gonna use a Sharpie and color over the white so the split isn’t as noticeable and move on.
Yeah, I'm just done obsessing over stupid shit like that anymore. I'm drained.

I bought a Mazzy Star record this week. It showed up. Pulled it out of the paper sleeve and it looked like sandpaper hit it. Scratches and scuffs everywhere.
I put it on, then there was a gash midway through Fade Into You, causing a repeative skip. Ain't that some sick joke!
Then I returned the record today.

I'm about through with vinyl. All the bullshit has gotten to me and the insane prices are making it worse. Gonna thin out what I have and keep my personal favorites.

Been feeling that way for a while now. To much bullshit to wade through just to listen to music.

Always nervous when I buy a quiet album like that Mazzy Star. Records like that need quality pressings and quality packaging just so it does not damaged during shipping.

Yeah I bought that press from Amazon last year, was an absolute disaster. Returned and gave up on that one.

Curious to hear if anyone gets the Optimal Sea Change repress and whether it's a mess too.

When it's Amazon, I don't think twice and send it back. I like to order "iffy" pressings from them for that reason (GZ pressings for example). Takes some of the risk away. Hopefully they continue with their relatively easy return/exchange policy with damaged records.
Yeah, Amazon is easy to return and replace but deep discount via Walmart would be a pain in the neck as neither is easy to work with and when we’re talking about a $14… I m’d rather just Sharpie it.

If anyone is looking for the 2016 pressed at optimal I’m clearing out all my Beck stuff as a part of my reorganisations. It is one I’ve put in the pile to sell to the local but I’d be willing to let it go to someone here.

anybody know local shops aside from the usual suspects that have free shipping on over $50? Seems like SYEOR are selling out everywhere
