Definitive Audiophile pressings

yep--could care less about the OBIs. if it's there, fine. but in many cases it's an extra $15-$20 for an OBI.
I wish I could say the same. Knowing I have an incomplete version would forever be present in the back of my mind. Every time I would spin it I would probably be checking to see if I could find a copy with the Obi. If I am already paying extra to have it shipped from Japan then I am getting the full boat or nothing.

They are aesthetically pleasing.

Also @Joe Mac probably: “why buy a t-shirt with an image on it when I could by a 3 plain t-shirt to cover my top half just as good for the exact same price. I am not a walking billboard, thank you very much!”

Nope that’s not at all the equivalent. More it’s why leave a big plastic advertising. size and price sticker over the top of my beautifully designed t shirt art.

I leave the shiny league stickers on the underside of my baseball caps and use a hair dryer to peel off the hype stickers and then place them back on the outer sleeves of any purchased album with a hype sticker.

What can I say, Mad Men is my favorite TV show. Maybe in an another reality I am some sort of graphic designer.

Hype stickers are my nemesis. Fine if I can bin them with the shrink but I curse the days of them being stuck directly into the card sleeve!

I kinda just want to see the album art!

Well I gotta say. The Diamond Dogs JP 82 is really really good. It doesn't have the detail of the remaster, which is usually something I always prefer. However this is so huge, with so much presence and stage and 3 dimensional sound that I totally don't mind losing some detail. It's crisp but it just doesn't have some aspects as high in the mix as the remasters, but man it's such a fun listen. Really happy with this one.

A sampling of results from Jazz Record Center’s eBay auctions today. And some in the jazz vinyl community wonder why there’s so much demand for high-priced audiophile reissues when — supposedly — a little old-fashioned hard work and crate digging will yield as-good or better results . . . . The Dorham Cafe Bohemia and Dolphy Outward Bound destroyed the highest sales on Discogs.

not sure if it's crazier that some of these sold for $3,000 or that it only took 16 bids to get there....I haven't seen the actual listings but wouldn't be shocked if these were in crazy good condition. I just could NOT imagine dropping $3,000 on quiet kenny when the mono reissue and the AP both sound amazing.

Can't hate on JRC. I love that place and last time I went I picked up a ton of heat for really fair prices. And glad they are making some bank on these if it helps them stay open. Their shop is crazy. Under all the bins there are tons of records that haven't been priced and even just really clean empty sleeves. I imagine they take a lot of time to match clean sleeves with clean vinyl on some of these.

Which Innervisions do you have? I picked up a 1977 and it's really great. That's two top notch japanese Stevies in my collection now.

i gotta get some japanese stevies one of these days...i haven't found really clean ones last few times i looked at record city...

Been doing mostly Ella for a while. I keep checking RC, but I've not been finding EX/EX of what I'm looking for. I think you have to be very diligent with checking RC if you want something somewhat popular. I've lost a few things I had in my cart because I was hoping to eventually bundle a few extra things.
