Definitive Audiophile pressings

Spotify put me onto this album a few weeks ago and I’ve been obsessed, just got the vinyl through the door 10 minutes ago and I’m blown away by how good this record sounds. Just gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous stuff.

If you’re in the market for some Latin guitar + bossa nova vibes + ethereal + tranquil vocals you should not hesitate to pick this thing up. Still easy to come by and very affordable. Got mine for $21

Those MPS reissues are quite nice and well priced.

For those who don't want to watch Chad's latest video.....I have taken a hit for the team.

here are the cliff notes:

*new title added to the AP Atlantic 75 45rpm series. Billy Cobham - Spectrum.

*Face Value by Phil Collins will not be repressed apparently. Buy now cry later and all that. Will not be on SACD.

*Boz Skaggs will be the original mix, not the 1976 remix.

*Chris Bellman is cutting Genesis. Trick of the Tail will be new cut. Most of the Genesis titles are from the classic records plates but some were damaged so will be recut.

*Otis Blue is the same AP plates.

*Dusty Springfield has a new gatefold and will have 3 bonus tracks vs the AP.

*There will be a modern artist reissue being announced soon in the series cut from hi-res digital.

*Blues and Roots and Prine are pressed at RTI (with first 2,000 at QRP). Everything else so far will be QRP.

Chad also claims he will familiarize himself with more 90s and 2000s titles and try to do more of that music. He has probably seen how well stuff like STP is selling and has dollar signs in his eyes.
Anyone know which Dusty Springfield album it is?

That’s good for me then. I have three other copies. I was hoping it was one I didn’t have. Her stuff is sort of hard to find.
Strangely, the best Dusty In Memphis I have heard is the Abbey Road half speed. I also have the Rhino Bellman, which is fine, but sounds quite subdued. The earlier AP 45 has great tone and definition, but sounds rolled off and bloated, though some may like it's politeness.

The AP I have has no extra tracks, so that is most likely the reason for the new cut.
The earlier AP 45 was cut by Grey and so is this one, making it likely knowing Chad they are using the same plates, although the addition of 'bonus' tracks may necessitate a revisit.

The bonus tracks, no doubt added because there really would be no difference to the earlier AP and Chad wants to sell it again to all the owners of that, more detract than add. There is one true out-take, and another 2 that are reasonably concurrent but NY recordings. Presumably Chad will put them on side 4 so they don't ruin the original.

But, ya know .... gotta have it. It MIGHT just be a tiny, eenie-weenie bit better!

I have not heard that one. I have a beater copy, the Bellman cut and the Run Out Groove with a whole LP of extra tracks.

A few of these Atlantic75s Chad has just straight up reused AP plates on, like Otis Blue. He did detail which bonus tracks are on the Dusty and what’s on each side length wise but honestly can’t stand to rewatch the video haha.
