No joke, I used an old Rolodex to keep track of my (at the time in the mid 90s) collection of about 1500 7 inches.
This is a man that knows what to use a Rolodex for. [tips hat]

I'm on Team Nathan, no outer sleeves -- they made sliding the albums in and out of the shelves a pain and I didn't like the look so I ditched them.Ok, thanks for that recommendation! I’ll look into the Crystal Clear CPP sleeves!
The main problem for me with outer sleeves was that the standard size was too sight for a lot of single LP jackets, and the bigger sized outer sleeve was too big!
I think I’m going to go with my instinct and not use outer sleeves, but will make sure my records have breathing room on the kallax! So that way, it’s less likely there will be wear on them!
Its overkill and something that could easily be done through discogs, but I fill out a record card for each new record I pick up. I put all the info on there, the title, catalogue number, etc, but also where I bought it, the date, the price and a 'notes' section. My girlfriend thinks I'm crazy but it just adds to the experience and its cool to dig a record out and see that I bought it on such a date, on a trip to wherever, etc.No joke, I used an old Rolodex to keep track of my (at the time in the mid 90s) collection of about 1500 7 inches.
@NathanRicaud now that's how you store a record! Record in inner sleeve goes behind the jacket but in the outer sleeve. Pull the record out from your shelf. No need to pull the album cover out ever so you don't damage it. No risk of damaging the spline when you put the record back in after listening.I beg to differ my friend, clean, simple, no fuss, no muss

I think I get it! So the actual record and inner sleeve is not inside the jacket? It’s outside the jacket, but still stored in the outer sleeve?@NathanRicaud now that's how you store a record! To each their own! I still put the record on the what's playing stand. I just don't get my grubby fingers all over the album sleeve every time I take the record out. I've had too many spline splits from putting the records back in and too much ringwear on my records when I had the albums in the cover itself.Hard disageee! Taking the album cover out of the outer, taking the record out of it and putting the cover on the What’s playing stand are all part of the ritual!
Yep! That's the method I like a lot better. Then I never fumble around trying to get the album out of the jacket every time and keep the cover looking all nice without ringwear. It's super easy to get the album out and play it and then put the jacket in sleeve on my now-playing stand.I think I get it! So the actual record and inner sleeve is not inside the jacket? It’s outside the jacket, but still stored in the outer sleeve?

I do the same that @AnthonyI showed in his photos, but then usually take the cover out of the outer to look at and put on the stand as its playing. With more modern records, especially the thick jackets like Tone Poets etc, im not overly fussed about keeping the records on the outside but with a lot of older records it prevents ring wear etc.Hard disageee! We're fucking adorable.Record collectors truly are the funniest, most endearing psychos.
..........just because I store them that way doesn't mean I don't pull the jacket and enjoy it as it should be, then it goes back in the sleeveHard disageee! You don't have enough speakers...........just because I store them that way doesn't mean I don't pull the jacket and enjoy it as it should be, then it goes back in the sleeve

......are there ever enough speakers? You don't have enough speakers.
Its how I think all records should be shipped. Still don’t understand storing them like that. I’ve never really had issues with ring wear and a certain patina and aging is on inevitable and almost desirable in well loved and looked after things. Life is to be experienced not hermetically stored.
