Definitive Audiophile pressings

Now itā€™s in Irving, TX. I live 50 miles from Chicago šŸ˜’. It must have to do with it being an international shipment - customs?
Nope itā€™s still the crazy backed up USPS sorting plants at major hubs. Some just get caught in them. Happens to me when items go through Jersey City. It bounces around the US then ends up back in JC then finally to me in NY

Anybody own any of the ā€œsuper deluxeā€ Led Zeppelin box sets? I noticed Target has some and will be in the buy 2 get 1 sale starting tomorrow but not sure if they are worth it or not?
Didnā€™t you just buy Mothership? That said Iā€™m interested by the answer youā€™ll get.

My overall impression on the super deluxe sets (and I have 1,2, Physical Graffiti) is that you are better off with streaming the extras. 1 has a live set (Paris) that is worth a listen. IIRC 2, PG are mostly comprised of "rough mixes" which is interesting, okay, nice variety, and I don't really play them often.

Note:. I also don't play much the RSD "alternative moondance, astral weeks" cuts, but liked listening to the escher demo (white album) quite a bit

Yea--the box sets include a bunch of alt cuts and things and while the Mothership box seems nice so far (gonna listen to the rest of it today), I am kinda finding myself missing having them in original album order. Wasn't sure if the extras were worth it either or not but I think @HuddieLedbetter confirms what I was probably thinking to myself...I rarely end up listening to those alt cuts of things unless the versions are substantially different. I find myself listening to the Escher demos on White Album and the demos on the Flaming Pie box set but aside from those, I hardly ever reach for the bonus discs anymore.

I've one from the 6 zeppelin albums I own. Extra has never been out the packet.

Plus the single/ doubles are so cheap it hardly seemed worth the extra for more than one deluxe. Save your cash and stick it towards live at the BBC if you can track one down as its totally wicked

This kinda reinforced what I was thinking, so thank you! Think I'll pick up that Lou Reed New York instead finallly...

I love the New York reissue. It's a fucker getting Lp One out of the package though... Have you seen any of the Ramones special editions? Same deal. But I think it sounds fantastic
I'll probably store the LP in something else...have been doing this with a few box sets lately since they are annoying to take out of the boxes. I hate how most box sets are designed...it's like they don't want you to even listen to the records hah. I haven't seen the Ramones special editions.

I'll try to post some items from the Target sale that might be of interest to y'all here as I dig through. This one caught my eye though:

Works out to around $70 shipped after the sale if it's included. Seems like ALL vinyl will be included in the B2G1 deal though as usual. Sale starts tomorrow.

I own the Complete BBC Sessions one. It's worth getting if it's the only way (as it was for me) of getting the release. You get a nice booklet with the BBC one. With the general Zeppelin reissues, only I and Coda are worth getting the extras for (I as you get a decent early concert when Plant's voice is at its best, Coda as there's proper tracks on it). The others are a total waste of time. (I don't have the super deluxes of any of them but I did get the extra discs in the normal releases, and I *never* listen to the extra tracks and Zeppelin are my favourite band. I like alternate takes sometimes, especially if like Dylan they're v different, but hearing backing tracks for me is like torture).

It a fold out toploader. Total fucking calamity. You basically need a massive flat surface to open up the whole thing so you don't bugger the spine as the slots at the top are so flakey I keep missing them when I try to take it out/ put it in with the package closed. Looks cool but a total goat fuck on the practicality front šŸ˜‚

It seems pretty clear to me that a lot of times, the package designers on these things don't actually listen to records haha. I'm kind of excited to see how the Craft One Step is packaged...because it sounds way nicer than most of these other box sets that are priced similarly. I have heard the UHQRs are nicely packaged too and easier to get out than the MoFi One Steps.

I think they know a load of record collectors are either somewhat OCD or are on the spectrum so are deliberately screwing with the consumer base for kicks.

I paced on order, just because I think it's the first UK deal I've seen in time to place an order.

It's bound to be the EU MOV version, but the listing looks like it's QRP has the same ASIN & weight (when you convert to grammes) as the US listing. But I have had difficulty with Amazon listings in the past. If it's not 200g QRP goodness, I'm blaming you :)
It's not QRP. But weirdly also not the MOV cat number on the front and BG is in the Deadwax. So looks like an early MOV that possibly tied in to the first QRP press. I think it's this one. Just about to take the dog out into hurricane Whitley Bay but I'll get it cleaned and tried tonight

I just got 2 Talking Heads albums from Deep Discount expecting the US / RTI presses & they sent me the EU versions. I'm sure they still sound great, but It would be helpful if they used different barcodes for different presses.

Sadly this is the norm now. Multiple pressings and different items all share the same barcode so it makes it really difficult to figure out which pressing is which. I grabbed the Television Marquee Moon that had the RTI pressing barcode and ended up getting a different pressing from Acoustic Sounds. It still sounds good but...not exactly the pressing I wanted.

Which ones? I grabbed the '77 that was on sale a few weeks ago and it was the RTI, thankfully.

Edit: oops that was popmarket but don't they share the same stock?
