Definitive Audiophile pressings

I really hope those Bob Marley Half-Speed Abbey Road pressings coming out soon all sound wonderful! The recent Sade Half-Speed Abbey Road pressings sound great and so does the Amy Winehouse Frank Half-Speed Abbey Road pressing!

If these Bob Marley Half-Speed pressings do sound great, it will be a massive win for me as Bob Marley is my second all-time favourite artist behind Prince!

Looking very forward to what people’s thoughts are on the Half-Speed Abbey Road pressings once they have them in their hands!

Really wish I got free shipping with Music Direct. I was so keen to purchase the Bob Dylan Desire SuperVinyl whilst it was in stock, and when I checked out, the cheapest shipping order was just under USD$40. A bit devastated but oh well!

Has anyone got the ORG 45RPM pressing of John Coltrane's My Favourite Things? If so, how is the sound quality on that one? I am thinking of getting this pressing as I think it would be the definitive pressing of this classic album, but just would like to hear others' thoughts on this release first! 😊

Also, I was delighted to see the 45RPM pressing for Fleetwood Mac's Rumours on the Acoustic Sounds store up for pre-order, and to be shipping sometime this month! Is this a repress of that Kevin Gray remastered pressing that was 45RPM and was sold out for a while? I've got the 33RPM pressing for that one and it sounded spectacular, and I remember reading that the 45RPM pressing takes it that extra step and sounds like they are playing in your room!!

I really hope that 45RPM Rumours pressing is a repress of that particular pressing! If so, I'm definitely ordering it!!!

Yeah, I'm going that Rega Exact cartridge soon! My Elys 2 cartridge is still working perfectly, so I'm not in a huge rush to purchase one. I'm going to wait until the Black Friday sale to see if I can get a great deal on that cartridge! The same will go for the Pro-Ject VC-S2 RCM! I'm spending a lot of money recently though on going out, and I'm purchasing the iPhone 12 next week, so I'll have to be careful! Gonna be broke by the end of November! 🤪

the exact alone is 600 bucks and the RCM is another 700... plus the iphone being at least 800-1000

Frankly, My Favorite Things just does not sound good. It was poorly recorded and I’ve never heard a good version of it, the 45 RPM set included. It wasn’t much better (if at all) than my 70’s reissue. I have a mono pressing too that might be my favorite. If you don’t have it yet, don’t spend too much money on the 45 rpm. I don’t think it’s worth anything more than retail.

Rumours 45 rpm set, however, is absolutely worth it and I would definitely recommend it as the definitive version.

Yeah, I’ve got AUD$1700 left in my bank account overall, so I have to be careful with my spending. The Rega Exact MM cartridge is AUD$539 and the Pro-Ject VC-S2 RCM is AUD$899. That’s already nearly AUD$1500, so I’m hoping there’s a good discount/sale on the RCM as that’s more of a priority than the cartridge upgrade at the moment! 📌

iPhone 12 mini is just under AUD$1300, and I’m going out for dinner Monday and Friday night, and then out to 2-3 bars Saturday night and I always order cocktails when I drink out. I get paid Wednesday so that will be good but damn...🤷‍♂️😂

I really want to go all out on the Blue Note and Acoustic Sounds storewide sales too! 🥵

So lucky I live with my parents still! 🙏

Yeah, that’s what I’ve read; My Favourite Things was poorly recorded. Thanks for giving some great insight to the pressings you own! The ORG 45RPM 2LP pressing is still ‘in stock’ at Acoustic Sounds at the moment, so if I can get 15% off that, it will mostly cover the shipping expenses, which ends up being a great deal for me! 👍

My Favourite Things is such a great album! Happy to know that the 45RPM is at least one of if not, the best sounding pressing in the market at the moment! :)

if you have $1700 in your bank account before you’re dry and you’ve already drained your retirement fund you should not, I repeat NOT be thinking about upgrading your cartridge let alone think about getting a $1300 phone let alone be itching to buy $50 LPs by the fistful let alone actively be eating out LET ALONE be thinking about buying a $900 VACUUM. Why not put that money towards getting your own place, starting a savings, something, anything other than an out of control shopping habit.

If you want a nice and comfyish future in 5-10 years you need to start planning toDAY. We are the same age, the difference between us is I’ve been on my own for a bit and I have learned the value of money and how destructive it can be for your future to spend with reckless abandon, even if you live with your parents. If I lived with my parents I would be saving up like a MAD man because I don’t have to pay rent, that would jump start a nice cushy savings, I would not be trying to send every cent right out the door as soon as it came in cause trust me, when you’re on your own and your bills are stacking up you’re going to look back at now and be like “Fuck, I really should’ve saved up that $900 and learned how to use my SpinClean probs.”

again, I say this with love but the frequency at which I have mini heart attacks reading your posts about your spending is far too often and it frankly scares the shit outta me.

You should up your board to your parents instead. It'll give you an enormous self of well being that you'd normally have to get from feeding the pigeons (and sometimes feeding the sparrows too)

Yeah, I need to exert some self-control. It’s so hard though when there’s so much high quality things you want. But I need to, and I should maybe give my parents like AUD$100 a week for staying with them, especially as they cook and do the laundry. So awkward though...like what do I tell them? Hey Mum and Dad, I want to become more independent so I’m going to give $100 to you guys each week in the meantime until I move out of home! 🤷‍♂️😅

I think I probably will hold back on the Tone Poets actually, and will only grab the Blue Note Classics Series as they’re cheaper, and the albums are albums I prefer much more and are all essential jazz releases which will get the audiophile treatment! 😊

I think I’ll hold back on the cartridge for sure! I’ll only get that when I need to (the day I notice the sound quality deteriorating due to the needle needing to be replaced).

You’ve definitely given me a wake-up call! I want to get the limited UO edition of Kaytranada’s Bubba and the upcoming UO edition of Ariana Grande’s Positions but definitely won’t get them now too because I need to save! 💯

And for next Saturday night, my limit for spending on food + drinks will be $120! I spent over $200 just on Friday night going out. Never again am I spending that much on a night out even though it was worth it because it was my first night out after lockdown! ☯️

Omg, and I do three PT sessions every week for AUD$100. I can’t drop that because it helps with my fitness and is just really good. I really need to manage my funds. Screw the Blue Note sale for me then, it’s legit only the Acoustic Sounds sale I’ll be going in on!

From next week, I’m going to give them AUD$100! And I’m also helping my Mum take out AUD$10,000 out of her retirement fund! And I think my Dad is going to take out AUD$10,000 too (I convinced him and he wants to take out 10 grand now!). So that’s kinda good because they’re doing some renovations and want to travel somewhere in Australia together! 👍😊

Ahhhhh money! I need to stop being so materialistic. I wanna travel next year as well as I miss that. And imagine if I had a boyfriend or girlfriend too; we’d be eating out for dinner like 3 times a week. Must find a PT trainer if I ever start dating anyone so then it means I can save AUD$100 a week! 😂😂😂
