Definitive Audiophile pressings

A very similar experience to the past few SRX drops.
SRX was even worse because the site constantly crashed. And instead of fixing anything, they just kept doing the same thing again and again. Site didn’t crash on this—they simply didn’t have enough. From what I’ve seen craft is trying to fix this in the future and have seemed to listen to the reasonable customer feedback. People complained last time that there was no advanced notice so they gave advanced notice. They are cancelling duplicate orders as best they can (did it last time too). They will be pressing more in the future.

I get that it was frustrating for a lot of people but it does seem like they are trying to fix some of the main issues. The meltdown in Hoffman about it was pretty bizarre. It went from most people not even wanting it to people saying they were boycotting Craft haha. People said they should press the One Steps to order or do a subscription for one steps like VMP. Or give out raffle tickets and have a lottery system.

i do wish they could figure out how to cancel the preorders that are popped on on eBay already but I don’t know how they can realistically catch people.

Well, Craft's site didn't crash, but as with the SRX drops, the 'checkout' button didn't work consistently, and it sounds like that's what got in the way of some people completing their purchases. Honestly, I can't imagine how anything like this could work perfectly, because as long as people who try to buy wihtin the first 2 minutes aren't successful, it will feel like something went wrong.

Is this the 33 or the 45? I have the 33 on backorder!

Which version? I've got the Pure Pleasure mono remaster that also sounds pretty great.

The AP 45.

I finally got around to listening to just the first side (of 4!) of Matthew Sweet's 100% Fun, from Intervention Records. Damnnnn. Not only does it sound great, but as I've never listed to Matthew Sweet before, I've got a new favorite album! Every damn song is terrific and somehow manages to sound like an old favorite. I think there were something like 7 songs on just that first side, and that leaves three more sides to look forward to. So I guess now I have to decide whether I want to drop $40 to pick up Girlfriend from Intervention. Pretty sure I remember quite a few folks here saying that was the better of the two albums. That's saying something.

Funny that you mention this - I just got the IR version of Girlfriend in the mail today!! I prefer 100% Fun but there are plenty of people who like Girlfriend better...pretty good problem to have with two fantastic albums!

I'm on the flip side, picked up Girlfriend and debating picking up 100% Fun, lol. Honestly, I grabbed GF to see how they did on the pressing, as far as albums go, I think you'd be hard pressed to say either of these are a secondary choice, I like them both.........you can even toss Altered Beast in there ;)

Yes. On the coded 300 I could not have been faster. Large computer and solid connection. Had the code in mem so I just pasted and clicked. It went into the cue and the came back sold out. Bam

On the everybody goes. Again I was as fast as possible. Reloading page constantly on cell until it went live. Hit buy. It went faded. Came back about 30 sec later and said to not reload page. Then in a bit it went to cart and said out if stock.

My wife got to cart but it went out of stock b4 she got all her info in as she doesn’t have everything set up to buy in a single click (like vinyl buyers). We were miles apart so not on same connection.

It is good that demand is high for vinyl. Pressing numbers just need to catchup with demand. Companies leave a lot if $$$s on the table. There was no need to limit it to 1000. They could have done multiple pressings.

Strangely, my small town mail carrier says that other than myself no-one else on her route gets vinyl regular.

Exactly the same experience here. I sent them an email to ask if they plan to repress the first 2 eventually. They apparently will press more of the next titles, so that's that at least. Funnily, it's still in may cart on the craft site. I try to check out semi-regularly, but no luck, it says sold out haha. I signed up for the email for extra titles, but not hopeful.

From Craft last night:

Thanks to our community for the feedback
on the second Small Batch launch.

Following the overwhelming response to the first
edition, we took efforts this time around to better ensure that Craft’s supporters had advance notice and early access for the Eastern Sounds drop, but unfortunately there was no way to meet the overall demand for the release.

Due to the care and incredibly long lead time it takes to manufacture these one-step pressings, along with the manufacturing backlog created by COVID-19, there was no possible way to increase production on this release.

However, we can assure you that future Small Batch releases will be produced on a larger scale to better meet the community’s demand for high-quality vinyl releases of classic albums.

We’re very sorry to cause disappointment and will always value your feedback on how we can better serve the Craft Recordings community.

Also, for those who haven't yet heard, we're investigating & canceling duplicate orders. These will be added back into the store. If you missed out, please click the “Email when available” button on the product page to be alerted when they're added back to the store.”

All 3 are stunners! 100% Fun happens to have always been my favorite - probably capturing him at his most power pop, Brendan O’Brien is a stellar match for him. These Intervention releases were like a gift when they got announced! You won‘t be disappointed, @Russ I

Just wanna say, it’s been very pot calling the kettle black with this uproar of supply vs demand from the same crowd who makes fun of people who collect colored variants. Just picturing lawyerphiles continually hitting refresh to try and cop a Supreme drop. Having myself a chuckle, but simultaneously sorry to see there are some folks here who weren’t able to get it.

Yep haha. It’s been amusing following some of it on Hoffman. So many people who criticized the price when there’s an AAA OJC copy available for $20 (a totally valid point). But now are complaining that they couldn’t get a copy or that they need to press more. It’s wild.

Craft does seem to be cancelling some so if some of you missed it here, I’d recommend keeping an eye on the site and reloading it every so often (or getting a page monitor). You might still be able to get one.
