Definitive Audiophile pressings

Got mine today. Emailed them yesterday & they sent a shipping note late last night.

Packaging seemed to be better for me than last time. It was in a jiffy / soft plastic outer, the cardboard box was the same, but they had plastic covers over each corner of the box that seem to have kept it secure.

It all looks good, box, sleeve and looks flat. Still yet to give it a spin

Much better than the one I got from Amazon this morning in nothing but a paper envelope, obviously all corners are knackered.

Ah that goes to show that the UK and US distribution uses different packaging then. I was happy with the Coltrane from the UK. The Lateef from the US wasn't bad but it wasn't anything special, just some soft polystyrene sheets around it in a standard mailer.

That's disappointing and unfortunate, I mean, you order an album from Amazon, you know you take your chances on how it's packaged and shipped. But, if you're ordering a higher priced album with an upgraded presentation in terms of box, jacket, etc... you would assume they would treat it better.

I mean look at the boxes AP uses to ship even basic albums, I think the problem is the distinction some put on said items, we see these beautiful packages as more than just a product, the shipping department doesn't always see it that way...........it's a record, toss it in a box and send it along.

Totally, I've received records with footprints visible on the vinyl.

Just listening to to though & it sounds phenomenal.

I thought the VMP one sounded so good, I was really in two minds as to wether to go for this version. Glad I did.

edit - The Coltrane seems to be worth a lot more, but this is the better record. Really looking forward to see what titles come up next

This may just be a current-inventory thing. I've had an ebay watch on Lush Life since day 1, and the prices started high, but then supply went way up, and prices dropped, and now seem to have risen again. I assume it's b/c more copies are in permanent homes, so supply on ebay is down.

Of course, Coltrane is more popular than Lateef, so that will also be a factor even if Lush Life is (imo) a secondary Coltrane title.

I have the Coltrane, missed on Lateef and actually listened to the Coltrane yesterday. And though it sounds fine and all, it's not one of my fav Trane sessions. I actually like the Lateef better. I really hope they decide to repress the first 2 down the road. I asked CS about it and got a non answer.

@MikeH you think there’s a chance mofi represses allman brothers live at Fillmore east ? It says sold out but it’s still in their site unlike other allman releases
My understanding is "awaiting repress" and "out of stock" mean more will be pressed, but "sold out" means no more pressings And, Music Direct has it in stock for the inflated price of $175, which seems to be their practice when they are clearing out the final stock.
