Definitive Audiophile pressings

I had a similar problem with Tull. I ordered 2 separate orders (one each, one for me and a 2nd for gift) both the 1st day of preoders.

When the first copy arrived but not 2nd I checked AS website, had similar message on my order page, and called.

Long story short the 2nd copy took months to finally come. They obviously put it to the very back of the cue rather than shipping it in original order cycle. I called or txted about once a month. Always the same reply “It is in the warehouse and it will ship out asap”.

Hope you get yours quicker.

FWIW, I never found out what caused the original order glitch either. I have many orders with them going back to the early years.
Thanks for this. In my case, they got back to me and it appears to be the same as @Andy's problem, that as the order is under £135 it needs to have VAT added but they aren't exactly sure about how to go about it.

This is a great excuse to pick up the Ellington Masterpieces which I have been meaning to get for ages now, BUT im not sure if the £135 figure that they quoted includes shipping & handling, and if not I might have to reassess.

If you need some other VU releases too. You should consider this…

All are Mono cut by KPG and pressed at RTI. I think I picked it up on Amazon about a year ago for around $87 and It’s a pretty nice set.
Be careful, there were two pressings of this box set. The first was a typical United crap pressing that was so bad it was embarrassing. There is a later cut by KPG that is properly RTI pressed and sounds very good.

The two are distinguished by different covers, so easy to tell. The first pressing is to be avoided at all costs, unless one loves pain.

So I posted this in the VMP store drop thread because I'm an idiot but I meant to post it here...

FYI for those waiting on Kind Of Blue from Music Direct. I asked them what "unshipped" meant and received this response:

"I see that Miles Davis - Kind of Blue (UHQR 200g Clarity Vinyl LP) is on pre-order status as it has not arrived into stock at Music Direct yet. The status may be listed as “backordered” or “unshipped” as the order has not been processed.

Please let me know if you have any further questions. I am happy to help!

Thank you

I’ve placed an order directly with the Miles Davis US store with priority international shipping, expected ship date of end of June - so we will see if that gets released and then sort out VAT etc on it.

I didn’t want to go over £135, but might be worth it if you want the record. The £135 limit ( I think about $180) is supposed to exclude shipping. But when you go over it I think you are liable for VAT on the whole amount including shipping and customs charges are applied and a handling charge will be applied on top by FedEx.

I just got a message that from my order from Jan, the key record for the purchase has been sold and they will nit be pressing anymore (which is why I ordered it in the first place). Basically, wouldn’t trust that they will sort this out anytime soon, you might’ve best taking the hit and buying some more titles

Ah ok cheers. The main one I want is the Miles UHQR but there are also some AP's which are more affordable compared with getting them over here. I have messaged them asking to add the Ellington 45rmp AP to the order. If they come back saying another is needed (if shipping isn't included as you suggest) then I might end up cancelling altogether.

It's a nightmare, they need to just sort it out & add a sales tax really.

I emailed Acoustic Sounds to see why my KOB UHQR is still “In Progress”, for anyone else wondering the same thing, this was their reply:

Your order is prepared to ship, however unfortunately due to the large numbers in this release our FedEx route is unable to take more than a certain amount in a day, and we are packing them faster than they can pick them up. Once your order has officially been picked up you will receive a shipping confirmation with tracking information.

I'm also patiently waiting and live but a few hours from their operation in Kansas. Hoping to have it by the weekend to listen to!

i think on SHF they were told the majority of the KOB will ship between Wednesday and Friday this week. Mine shipped yesterday and my order was in by 11 AM ET the day they announced.
Is that for the first 6,000, or for more? I ordered from Music Direct & am wondering if / when I'll get it. Have they given any expectation on pressing & delivering all 25k copies?

Mine still says "Received" and still no charge so i think i'll send them an email asking for an update.

So I picked up the Bowie Ziggy reissue from last year, the repress of the box set remaster but the one that appears to be a different digital master than the earlier press. And I gotta say, it's pretty dang crunchy sounding, lots of treble and really not all that pleasant of a listen. Now I know that in general Bowie tends to not be the most high fidelity recordings but this one is a pretty good step down from all the others that I have from this series. I'm not sure whether that's down to this likely being a digital repress or whether it's just kinda what the album generally sounds like. Anyone with any opinions? @jamieanderson1968?

I wish I could find the proper AAA release but it's impossible now because of course this 2020 shares the same barcode and pretty much every single one listed on the Discogs AAA page was added in the past 6 months which means it's this digital version...

I have a Japanese pressing which sounds great, after years of hearing about the reissue being AAA and sounding great I got a copy, but it was the new digital one. I sent it straight back, my Japanese copy sounds much better, so I'm assuming the earlier repress sounds much better as well.
