Definitive Audiophile pressings

I'm learning so much this morning. Never heard of NAMBLA, a peado lobby group FFS? I cannot believe such a thing existed in any country, that its totally insane. (Well maybe Greece a few thousand years ago).

is Vulfpek associated with the far right/ fascism/Proud Boys?
No not at all. That was just one of the groups they really liked. But I now associate them with him bc of hearing a lot of them in that car.

I learned of NAMBLA years ago from south park when Cartman joined them, much to their joy. Hilarity ensued.

Hey, those of you who've purchased MBV Loveless deluxe, did you purchase it from the MBV webstore? If so did it arrive with decent packaging? Or am I right in assuming it's super flimsy...

I received my MBV Loveless Deluxe from Bleep a few days ago. It's a super sturdy tip-on jacket and the record doesn't have very sharp edges. So hopefully it'll survive the journey for you without seam splits or other damage, also, the record fits somewhat tightly in the jacket, so not much play for it to slide around. Also comes in a printed poly lined sleeve, which I've actually never seen before. The artwork printed directly on the paper, nice touch.

My copy is flat as a pancake and completely clean. Dead silent vinyl.

I'm actually curious what plant these came out of, it's gotta either be Pallas or Record Industries. But doesn't have the typical Pallas markings in the deadwax.

Nice, hopefully the repress comes out of the same plant. If I order from the MBV store the shipping actually isn't too terrible... But it's not coming till Oct

Does Domino sell these in local shops in Canada? Or was the licensing issue for all of North America?

The 2018s did the same. But yes you don't see it often. DGM (ie King Crimson) does them for their releases and some XTC REs too although they tend to not have art work for the album, but rather advertisements for future releases.

I ordered the 2018 deluxe of Loveless and the 2021 Deluxe Isn’t Anything from the MBV store both were packaged and shipped well. Received both in perfect condition.

Whether this will be a "definitive" pressing...who knows...but it's certainly definitive music and I see it popping up in a few places but only as a Japanese release (and w a plane ticket price, to boot). Any word on this Detroit mix of What's Going On?

Not info about the mix...I'm familiar with that and it's been available to hear for, what, decades? But on vinyl....is there going to be a wider pressing? Also, I feel like I have the vague memory that this mix was a thing that was available as part of a box set or for a RSD a while back or am I misremembering?

Second - I got both Isn't Anything and Loveless from the MBV store in 2018 (and they included the alternate Isn't Anything pressing that random pre -orders received) and the packaging was fine.

I bet Plaidroom will have this and it'll be a bit cheaper. Ships free too over $50

Yes, I've since it a handful of places and I do believe at cheaper prices. I just grabbed for the record info more than the price.

I'm also not champing at the bit for it. I probably would get it more so if it is 1) a good pressing and/or 2) less expensive

@MikeH found info that KPG is remastering it (it's the 50th anniversary this year I believe). Not more info than that, but another version may be coming up soonish.

It is. I saw the pre-orders a couple months back, but thought of it again today b/c NPR was doing a piece on the 50th of the album. They had some really good stuff and spoke with some people w/ great insight into the times both in a larger sense and for Marvin Gaye himself.

There was a Abby Rd 3 LP version a few years ago that had both mixes and some live stuff from memory, I’ve got it in a box somewhere I’ll have to pull it out to check.
