Definitive Audiophile pressings

FWIW, I heard that Sam Records is no longer using Pallas to press their records because of repeated issues :/
Yeah I heard that as well, on here I think... Honestly at this point I don't think there's any plant that's putting out consistently good vinyl during COVID

I agree. I've had issues with nearly every plant at one point or another in the past year. It's a shame to hear Pallas has gone down hill too though because they used to be one of the plants that were no-brainer purchases for me. I also have some SC pressings on order from jpc...

Intervention Records needs to step up their game. By which I mean, grow their catalog. I only had Matthew Sweet Girlfriend by them before and it is great. I just picked up their The Flying Burrito Brothers The Gilded Palace of Sin and it's equally as impressive. I want to see more from them.
It’s great stuff, but it’s basically one guy shoestringing these things. I’d also love to see him grab more titles.

I think they have a few more coming up. Shane who is the one-man show (I think that's his name...) is over on Hoffman all the time letting people know what's coming up next. He said not too long ago that everything is so backlogged at the plants for him that things that typically would take 6 weeks now take 6 months or something crazy.

The IR version of Erasure’s Wonderland sounds amazing and is super cheap on Discogs

Agreed. Those are the two I own and they are both great. There is a new deluxe pressing of The Church Starfish coming out sometime soon I am interested in. I hear their Joe Jackson stuff is fantastic as well.

How is a one man op getting these titles and I don't know if they're all AAA but doing some fantastic stuff?

Didn’t he also do a cut of The Cult (Sonic Temple maybe?) that ended up getting shelved after being recut and him basically having to eat it because the original label was reissuing it and didn’t mention it? Plus a whole office flooding issue a couple years ago. Just a few nasty hits for one guy to take.

Yup, he almost folded up a couple years ago.

He is pretty well-connected. Buddies with Joe Harley and Ron Raumbach and the like. Watched an interview with him awhile back and he said he was pretty inspired by Classic Records to try to create a label that did some more contemporary pressings at a really high quality. He cares a lot about making quality reissues. I believe they change stampers every 500 records as well.

For sure cares about his product. I definitely have never minded paying the few extra bucks for his work.

Yeah I contacted him recently about an order I placed and he said there are delays at Stoughton as well as the pressing plant.
