Definitive Audiophile pressings

It's fine...we all know you're talking about me. I'm not ashamed!

I ended up buying that Chicago The Blues Trilogy last night. I was hemming and hawing and ended up caving. Not sure if it's a RSD exclusive or first, but the AAA + KG got me. I think it was around $70 shipped for me online.

It sounds very good!

Since I took advantage of the last posted opportunity, here's another:

I don't have either but I looked at getting Green or Music for Nine Postcards but the cogs reviews were really iffy on pretty much all of the pressings so I held off. It's actually why I ended up going with the black of the comp. Which copy of Green do you have and how does it sound? Ideally I wanted the OG US release nectar it has the added nature recordings on it, but doesn't seem like that one got repressed...
Little late chiming in here, but I have Green and Postcards both on clear vinyl and they are very good presses.

I also have Kankyo Ongaku on black, and it’s great.

Echoing what @Portland Sheriff said, you’ll definitely notice a stray click or pop here or there on a lower cut ambient record like these. So long as that doesn’t bother you, you’ll love all 3.

As much as any Hardcore album can be “Audiophile” I can’t imagine any pressing of Bad Brains self-titled debut topping this ORG reissue. This is great especially for like $20 retail.
So thrilled to hear this delivers! I sprung for the “Punk Note” versions. Too cool to pass up.

I’ve been going back and forth on it too:)

Not sure where I want to discuss this, but does anyone have the new Shins Oh Inverted 20th Anniversary? Anyone care to share any insight? Just got it in today. Still an RTI pressing, cut by John Golden, same as a majority of Sub Pop stuff. It’s honestly crazy that you can get RTI pressed, mastered at Golden for $20 or so from them.

At any rate, I honestly can’t tell what’s different between the 20th and the previous versions other than the 20th is cut slightly quieter. It does sound great though. Always thought Oh Inverted and Chutes were great sounding records.
I don’t have an OG anymore to compare, but the top end definitely seems substantially more lively than what I remember on the OG. Then again, I have an entirely different system since I gave the OG a listen, so maybe it’s the same cut! Hah!

I'd missed out on the green note version so I picked up the standard at rainy day in Saturday. Now that it's on display I was like, "oh yah, I really want the iconic album art. What was I thinking before?"

Yeah I have the punk note on order, but definitely have the dilemma that I wouldn't say the album art is better. Much easier decision with Rock For Light.

This shop also has Nilsson Schmilsson Mofi for $65, above original retail , obviously, but also below eBay/Discogs prices.

Its funny to me how popular the Kenny Dorham was this year, I honestly thought it would be under the radar for some reason. It seems to have taken up 99% of my instagram feed, which is incredible to see. Its such a fantastic session that it deserves to be more well known and accessible.
It's also taken up most of my ebay and discogs sale listings...this one was popular because it was very limited + Craft has become popular with flippers as well sadly. My discogs sale email last night had probably 15 copies all listed as "great price!" at $100+

I think you hit the nail on the head there. I hope they do a proper release, or even a small batch, I would like this one.

I'm not too worried though, I expend the AP version will get a repress at some point even if Craft don't. And you never know, the flippers might not be able to sell it at that price.

I think they will do what they did with Chet Baker for RSD a few years ago. They'll release a stereo Craft cut but keep the mono as RSD.

Yeah, that was kinda my thinking too. I had the opportunity to purchase the the alt cover version of this one but figured that if I did, it would make me have to try to get the alt album art for all of the Bad Brain reissues and though the alt artwork is definitely cool and fun, the OG art is crazy iconic and I don’t wanna buy 2 copies. If I had an OG copy already though, then I might have gone the with the Alt cover art just to A/B the two versions.

I think it checked all the boxes for an audiophile Jazz reissue and while there were a few others interesting Jazz releases Quiet Kenny was the biggest Audiophile title available and it had a less than $30 list price.

And way more people know about Craft than they did even a year ago, flippers and jazz fans alike. It was funny seeing the reaction to Craft entering the One Step game over at Hoffman. It seemed like 90% of people on there had no clue who Craft or Concord was.

Craft has been putting out great RSD stuff for a few years now. I remember last year they had those Parish Hall and Booker T. & The MG's all analog releases that went fast, and the year before the highly acclaimed Born Under a Bad Sign AAA mono, plus the Violent Femmes' 2nd album which was a hot commodity. Quiet Kenny is a big title in the jazz community, ERC did a $300 reissue of it not long ago. AAA jazz albums are few and far between on RSD, so it's no surprise at all that it was a highly sought after release.
