Definitive Audiophile pressings

This Boom Boom interview made me remember that I need to pick up more of his Prince reissues. @Andy if you're looking for 2 titles to add from DD, that might be a good avenue to go down.

Great idea, I still have a few key Prince titles missing. He also did the RSD Prince release from a few years back, which I bought at the time, and can't believe it still sells at a cheapo price, I didn't think anyone knows it's KG.

I have to say though that the BG sign of the times 12 LP box set is phenomenal, one of my favourite purchases in recent years.

Even the guys interviewing KG didn't know that KG cut those Prince releases haha. They were not marketed as KG cuts and don't have any hype stickers. I have self-titled that he cut but need to pick up more before they go OOP or I can't find any decently priced ones. A 12 LP box is a bit too much for me to handle but I might grab the KG cut of it.

Is Blue going to just start being restocked like Electric Warrior did a while ago?

I’d be shocked with the BG pressing coming out in the first 4 album box soon. I’d say it’s more likely they will end up being released individually after a while and become the main pressing.

For the Boom Boom completionists. This came out for rsd today.

I paid $59.99!

this has been selling for £85 in the UK. Rough Trade was charging £90. Outrageous pricing for RSD this year.

Edit -there was a Speakers Corner Pure Pleasure version of this a few years back, I wonder if that was KG as well AAA mastered by Ray Staff

It’s fascinating how prices vary that hard for the same releases/event/store type. That one was $85 USD at my closest place. Sadly I kinda think RSD squeezes smaller indie stores as larger indie stores get the eyes and can price up to the crowds.

I don't know what's going on in the UK tbh, there is no reasoning to the pricing. Not that I could get a copy but I had Quiet Kenny in a basket for £35 works out at about $48, nearly twice what it was selling for in the US.

With the Craft small batch, it worked out cheaper to buy from the US store & ship to England than buy direct from the UK store.

There was Intervention talk a little while back, of note, it seems Acoustic Sounds carries at least some of their albums. A great way to get to free shipping on other items from there.

For you Boom Boom fetishists, the Harold Land set Westward Bound! is still available at Port of Sound. (and I’m not suggesting I am not a fetishist bc I picked up this and Quiet Kenny yesterday, both online)
