Definitive Audiophile pressings

Oh interesting, so it's not actually the audio from the final Ziggy concert? They re recorded it and faked the live stuff?
No it is the "final" concert, I just meant to say it was properly recorded. But it has been much edited (song lengths and dropping a few songs, including a couple with Jeff Beck). As @yukbon says it had quite a few overdubs. Several songs the bass was completely lost and there are lots of dropouts on the original tape

I've learned the hard way that it pays to be decisive on AS Discogs when something good comes up. I posted somewhere above about how weird their pricing is. Sometimes a cosmetic issue yields a nice discount, and other times none at all, with no rhyme/reason that I can figure out.
Speaking of . . . if you can deal w/ a "barely audible" scratch on a minute of one track, Isao Suzuki Trio's "Blow Up" is up for $50 on AS Discogs: Isao Suzuki Trio / Quartet* - Blow Up: 2x12", Album, Ltd, RE, 180 For Sale | Discogs

I'll add, the previous OJC reissue of Waltz for Debbie was pressed at RTI and uses the typically RTI polysleeve. Not sure if this repress will be the same, but worth noting.

Also, this OJC pressing is one of best sounding records in my collection. I have no way to determine if it's truly AAA, but it does sound excellent. Well worth the $20, or whatever they are charging for it.
I've got the OJC pressing of Sunday at the Village Vanguard and really like it. Looks like OJC also did Portrait in Jazz, Everybody Digs Bill Evans, How My Heart Sings, and Moon Beams. Anyone have those? They are listed on DeepDiscount but all are backorder right now. I'm liking Evans these days and would love to pick up a few more of these at a reasonable price for the quality.

Wondering if anyone has any recommendation for some good big band records. It’s one category in my collection that I’m lacking. Thanks!

APs RE of Gil Evans Out of the Cool is available and great. I'm not an expert on big band by any means but I've been listening to the hell out of it. Would this evening be considered "big band"? It has a lot of instruments (ie an orchestra) but is there a more indicative sound?

Out of the Cool is definitely a great place to start! Duke Ellington’s Masterpieces AP press is bone chilling good sonically, Sinatra at the Sands is amazing if you like your Big Band with a little bit of Sinatra. I would honestly find a couple of these, all the big band you will ever need and they sound wonderful and can be grabbed for cheap.image.jpg

I have all those titles as OJC pressings. They are generally good and worth the price tag. They are not all pressed at RTI though.
