I've been mostly doing that (outside of older MoFis of course). I'm not paying flipper prices on any of these new MoFi releases on the off chance that I actually like the titles they are releasing.

I think they have a relationship with speakers corner with them both being German. They held those and seemed to be very knowledgeable about when they’re being repressed. They’ve just flat out cancelled more common pressings that they can’t immediately get from their supplier in the past too lol.

I agree that they must have some kind of relationship with them. They consistently get restocks of items that I don't see anywhere stateside. ever since @Russ I brought that site to my attention, I check it probably every other week to see what they get in stock. even with shipping, they are cheaper than buying at Plaidroom or other US shops that stock them.

With them being EU I find them great to buy off full stop to be honest and they’re always worth a punt with something that’s becoming rare. I got that Kinks Mono box off them at retail of €160 just as it was disappearing everywhere else! Their international shipping is really fair too, it’s €5.95 for the order and they don’t come looking for more money if they split the order themselves.

if you look at any of the facebook MoFi sell/trade groups, people were posting it for $125-$150 and selling it within minutes and any attempts to tell people that it was not OOP were met with ban threats for "price bullying" haha. the flippers on those groups were saying either buy it at $125 now or pay $250 for it 6 months from now.

Ya, it's nuts how quick they get scooped up on those groups, but I'm in your camp, I'm buying at my price and just passing on the flipper FOMO BS...............patience has worked out so far, now I just need that Chet Sings to get repressed at BN and I'll be happy.

@Joe Mac, not many regrets here, but I do still kick myself for passing on that Kinks Box when I had the chance.

I regret the Beatles Mono box and Kinks box. From now on, I will just buy any mono box sets for bands I like apparently or risk regret later.

Ouch! It is a good one. Weird one too though with how both Rainbo and GZ managed to shelve their usual crap to each do a perfectly pressed box set lol!

I have the KG Sundazed of Quentin, it's fine. The quality of that recording is so far below Folsom that I'm not certain it's ever really gunna sound amazing. I'm sure the SC and the KG are roughly the same. Although HAD I KNOWN there was an SC, I would have gone that way since they seldom disappoint. Sundazed is hit and miss since it's so hard to tell which ones KG actually mastered, and which ones he just cut the lacquer on.

Yea I have decided just to keep that one on high-res streaming and not buy it on vinyl. There is a sundazed on ebay for something like $12 plus make an offer if anybody wants the link...

Im about to go crazy on Cash soon. Been keeping an eye out for fair priced American and Unearthed Boxes, got a PIF of a VMP Folsom and looking to get a copy of San Quentin and the “Essential” compilation. It’s likely to be my next little project seeing as Bowie box set 5 is increasingly a thing of myth and lore.

VMP Folsom is on my list but just not at the prices I've seen. BoomBoom has done a lot of Cash I think with Sundazed. I really like the American box set but just am not sure how much I'd spin it. What you're doing with Cash is not unlike what I've done with John Prine in the past year or so. Plus my wife loves Prine so she gets excited any time I get a record of his in the mail. We end up listening to him a lot on the weekends lately.

American III and IV in particular used to be on heavy rotation for me. The problem ended up being that they’re on CD and I never go and pick a CD off the shelf anymore. It’s almost like a mental block. I think getting them will end up putting them back into that rotation. Unearthed just looks like a phenomenal collection. With the earlier stuff I’m happy to have the prison albums and the “hits”, I actually much prefer older more vulnerable Johnny Cash with his cracked voice to the younger version.

I've gone down the Prine route, I didn't really know him but got hooked after listening to the Tree of Forgiveness when that came out, I struggled to pick up Prine on Vinyl, but the last year or so has seen so many re-issues. The RSD box is stellar.

I talked myself out of picking up the American box & Unearthed, thinking I should probably just pick up a few of the albums and have ended up with nothing.

I do like the Third Man Johnny Cash Vault release, still thinking I should watch the DVD at some point

I think Ive found one of each at a price I can justify. Just waiting until after 11th for a new Credit Card billing month 😂

What did third man do of his? I missed that one entirely!
