Definitive Audiophile pressings

sounds like your dad had good taste in music! my dad just has a bunch of Blood Sweat and Tears and Three Dog Night albums haha.
My Pop was all about The Doobie Brothers and Chicago. He gave me all of his old LPs a while back when I first started collecting. I do not have any of them still in my collection now though.

Don't even get me started about uncles Al Hirt collection!
Have plenty from both here and my mothers country as well. She loved Loretta, Patsy, Tammy, Dolly, Cash, and Pride, etc.

Blood Sweat and Tears

It’s so funny when that got the one step treatment I had never heard of them and googled and got a pile of shit reviews. Listened to. Agreed with the shit reviews. Was very confused. Asked a guy I work with who is in his 60s and who I often chat with about music what the deal was. His line:

“For some unknown reason the yanks got into bad instrumental cover bands in the late 60s/early 70s. Record companies didn’t dare try to sell them over here for fear of ridicule”

So yeah figured mofi lol!

Goddamnit, it’s so hard to pick AP pressings lol. Got myself in the hole of deciding between some Norah Jones, Nat King Cole, Beach Boys and Julie London and I’m getting no where. Think I may pass the decision off to wifey 😭😂
If you don't own it already, the Nat King Cole album "Love is the Thing" is one of the best sounding records I own -- and is a breathtaking record.

That’s the one I currently own and I completely agree. Absolute show stopper! I’m currently weighing The Very Thought of You which has one of my favorite tracks of his “But Beautiful” on it

I was rather confused too - BST is the type of group that now makes the rounds as a small-town summer fair act in my area. I once saw them play back-to-back with Eaglemania (which is just what you think it is) to about 500 senior citizens.

Seems like it would be right up your alley!

Must. Not. Buy…..

I really wish they would repress the AP or Nat King Cole Story…
I've got that as well -- and while it's great (and this is going to be horrifying to write) I play it less because that packaging is a pain in the ass.

Side note: the Pure Pleasure Nat King Cole, After Midnight isn't as great as the AP.... But is pretty terrific and can be picked up at pretty cost effective prices I think.

Well if ya ever decide you want to trade it for something with less fussy packaging…let me know haha

I’ll check out the Pure Pleasure. Appreciate the tip!

Do you know if the compilation that they did for what would have been his 100th birthday sounded any good? I’ve been tempted by that for a while, it’s on the long list (but man is that one long list 😂)

I tried to look up reviews of that awhile ago but couldn't really find much about it. Haven't looked in awhile though.

The urge to buy some Nat King Cole on vinyl grows stronger for me each day as it gets closer to winter and I can sit in a chair with a glass of whiskey by the fire
