Definitive Audiophile pressings

I think it’s been mentioned here before, but I just grabbed the Boom Boom of Wilco’s A Ghost is Born. It’s great! Pressed at Pallas too.

I think there are several different presses which are all KPG/Pallas, but this is the one I got…

I have the OG of it and it's also Pallas x Boom Boom. This and Sky Blue Sky sound phenomenal. I think the Sky Blue Sky I have is pressed at RTI and half speed mastered by Stan Ricker.

Haven’t seen the new half-speed remaster of Everything But the Girl’s Eden mentioned here. They never clicked when I was a twenty something. Love it now. Jazz/bossa nova pop.

I forgot to do a pre-order for this on Amazon.ca now it has shot up. Hopefully I can find a good price for one when I am able to hit a record store again in November.

The half speed reissues I have (Amplified Heart, Walking Wounded, and Temperamental) reissues are amazing! I actually don’t think I’ve listened to any of their real early stuff.

Just placed my pre-price hike order, settled in with:

Ben Webster meets Oscar Peterson (excellent nocturnal jazz album)
Duke Ellington + Johnny Hodges - Back to Back (incredibly fun energetic session that I can see becoming of my my most frequently spun albums)
Ella Fitzgerald - Like Someone In Love (sleepy but wonderfully relaxing Ella album with some of my favorite Ella songs)
Nat King Cole - The Very Thought of You (need I say anything?)
JJ Cale - Troubador (lying if I said I didn’t buy this for Cherry alone)
Patsy Cline - Greatest Hits 33RPM (been on the list for a long time and the lady requested this makes the cut)

If I didn’t already have two copies of Donald Byrd’s Places & Spaces I would be all over that one. Not super familiar with the rest but I am sure there are a few other goods tucked in there too.

The two Herbie Nichol's will be a joy to have on Wax, Love bug is fun. I need to upgrade to that Jimmy Smith, and another Horace Silver is never a bad thing. Don Cherry, yep! I need to look up the Kenny Cox, anyone care to comment on that one ?

I'm not sure whether the price hike is only for regular AP pressings (that are at the $55 and $35 price point) or also for the records that where part of their series (verve, fantasy or blue note, that are at the $50 price point).

I think anything they are in control of the licenses for are going up. So the AP catalog pressings and AS reissue series as far as I know are the ones seeing a price increase. Stuff like speakers corners, Sam records, Blue Notes I am anticipating to stay the same. I hope I am not proved wrong ahaha

ooh I'm digging this. thanks for the rec! I really only know their cover of Night and Day which is wonderful. Gotta check out their albums now.

I believe it's just the $35 + $55 price point titles. Some of those Verve and BN titles are last copies or limited represses as far as I know and they already hiked up some prices on those I think.
