Definitive Audiophile pressings

Toward the end of the video, when highlighting the Pink Floyd SACDs, Chad makes a comment about how honored they are to work with PF and says “we’re hoping to have some news on more to come” with a little smile.

Could very well be talking about more SACDs but possibly some AP vinyl titles down the pipeline.

💸💸💸💸 if true

If they sold 25,000 KOB UHQR in ~6 months, how many DSOTM UHQR would they make?!
The Pink Floyd master tapes are in the U.K. and they don't travel. Chad would have to get a UK person to cut them.

Pink Floyd rarely license, and when they do, the % and upfronts are huge. Chad is in this to make money.

Pink Floyd wouldn't license to Hobson. They won't to MOFI. For sure Chad could give them a bigger guarantee, and has some inside track as he has done the SACDs, but no one gives a shit about licensing for a SACD, particularly when the label already has the remastering done.

Aside from those early MOFI's, which are like 30 years ago now, PF have not given a single license for vinyl, and you can bet everyone has tried.

Well… all the recent Pink Floyd remasters were remastered at das boot by James Guthrie, which is based in Lake Tahoe, so don’t know that “tapes are in the U.K. and they don’t travel” is very accurate. Thanks for playing.

What you do is, tell people you have under 500 left, press up another 2500, tell people again you have under 500, then press up another 2500....and keep going. If he told people he pressed 2500 and still has 1000 left, his FOMO game will be up.

Well...all the recent Pink Floyd remasters were done from digital. You can do that in Lake Tahoe, or anywhere else. No need for the master tapes.

Thanks for playing. But, this type of snark is better at the Hoffman board.

I for one am tired, TIRED I TELL YOU of all these unnecessary remasters of classic albums that have been done again and again and again and again. I WILL NOT be party to yet another dubious remaster of an easily found classic. No sir I will NOT.

-glances apprehensively at questionably pressed Pink Floyd albums in collection-

-sweats-

ok if AP presses these in 45 I will run down a family of orphans to get to them
ok shut up about the logistics of how a "family" of "orphans' would even work... stop playing dumb you're picking up what I'm putting down now zip it

Save the orphans.

Both DSOTM AND WYWH have excellent vinyl cuts fairly readily available, the former by KPG and latter by Doug Sax. The Wall cut by Doug Sax in 2012 is awesome too, and easy to find.

Given that Pink Floyd have publicly stated that the master tapes are 'retired', presumably due to over-use and deterioration, it is hard to see how another vinyl cut could exceed those.

Outside those 3, the market for the Floyd catalog starts dropping off pretty steeply. Animals would sell very well, but I can't see a big market for Atom Heart Mother or The Final Cut.

I would love to have those pressings but the KPG is well over $100 CAD at this point if you can find one that isn't covered in fuzz and crackle, the Sax copy looks to be around however I question whether most of those listed on cogs as the Sax aren't actually the Grundman (which I have and sounds great but my pressing is pretty dodgy). My first two copies of the Grundman DSOTM and The Wall were seriously flawed presses from a couple of years back but I re-bought them this year and the new presses were perfect. Haven't managed to find a new WYWH but I'm sure I will. I'd love to have the KPG or even the Mofi but... likely not in the cards at this point unfortunately. But I'm gunna keep my eyes out for that Sax, didn't know about that, thank you for the heads up.

But they weren’t. The tape to hi-res transfers were done in California.

The definitive statements, extreme hyperbole and dismissal of someone who may have insider information by internet message board “experts” is what belongs at SHF. That’s what drove me here but maybe I should just move on…. Enjoy your fake news.
