Doesn't look like its back on AS. In fact, the listing for the album is gone entirely. Not quite sure how some mint copies just popped up on The In Groove but boy am I glad I was able to nab one. Been hoping I'd get a chance at this album for the past 3 years.

Picked up this pressing of CSNY’s “So Far” the other day and it sounds exceptional.
Heavy vinyl, extremely quiet, and the dynamics are quite impressive. The instrumental separation really stood out to me.

My copy is in transit. From what I've read, the playing is top notch and the audio is adequate. It won't be top tier audiophile live material, but I'm sure we will be pleased. Blue Note has excellent instincts when it comes to what they release these days. I'll report back when I give it a listen, but that may not be for another week, given USPS's backlog.
Blue Note's instincts - anything from this period of Blakey will sell, so dig out whatever there is. 1961...2021...no royalties! No licensing costs! Just - master it (doesn't cost much) and press 'em up - go!
My take on this.
Is it worth $40? That's not the issue for me. It's a question of how often, if ever, I will have an urge to pull it off the shelf and listen to it.
And that becomes a matter of time and value, not money. As a package, it is lovely and well worth $40. Would I play it over Indestructible, or Buhaina's Delight, or Mosaic? No. When I want Blakey, with Shorter, Timmons and Morgan, will this be in my favorite 5? No. Is it essential? Not at all. Is it, if not essential, unique and interesting? Not really. A concert hall setting was not the ideal situation for this group. They had to, by the nature of the rather conservative sit-down audience and the records which were available in Japan at the time, stick to a pretty stock set list and pretty straight up interpretations. In fact, similar era live sets on Jazz Corner of the World show much more adventurous repertiore and playing. Those two are far more essential than Tokyo.
If I didn't have a lot of Blakey, this would be a maybe, but only after Indestructible, Mosaic, Buhaina, Free For All, Night In Tunisia, Big Beat, Freedom Rider, Child's Dance, Soul Finger and others. And once there are those, Tokyo would sit on the shelf after one play.
The final issue, again my thinking only, is that the $40 could be much, much better spent. There's lots of great music coming out of the UK, Europe and elsewhere (not the USA much though). That music is today, future classics, and fresh. Artists creating today. Not a dead mono tape laying around that someone can get $40 for effortlessly and without any studio, artist or royalty costs.

I have AAA Pure Pleasure pressing. It's not bad, I imagine finding a good vintage copy would have a better, fuller, warmer sound. It's a compilation though, so some tracks were recorded better than others and sound really good, while others sound pretty thin and harsh.
Out of leftfield a bit, but I’ve been listening to the The’s Soul Mining nonstop for the past day and I’m wondering if anyone has the box set from a few years ago? The original UK pressing I have sounds fantastic but if anyone has the box and cares to share how it sounds, that would be awesome.

I finally tracked down this copy of Murmur and it arrived today...but the disc inside the sleeve was Reckoning. Message sent to the discogs seller, hopefully they can sort it out but I'm doubtful.I was curious since; as I stated, my copy of Murmur is the brown translucent wax but this Discogs entry makes no mention of this. So I figured I should double check my runout out and lo and behold, I had the wrong version listed. Back when I was first setting up my Discogs, Didn’t understand the importance of matching the entry to my actual copy and it appeared this was likely the culprit, This only effected my first 50 or so entries and I have corrected most of them but every now and then I will find one and that appears to be the case here. Anyways, I have now added the correct edition.
