Definitive Audiophile pressings

Not a recommendation 100% of the time but many sellers on Cogs will negotiate a little more lower if you pay them directly cutting out the cogs fee.

This increases risk on the transaction. Be careful. I only do this with a seller I can have some confidence won't stiff me.

BTW these JPY exchange rates are insanely good right now. Now is the time to shop if buying anything from Japan.
Some sellers are extremely hesistant to do this. You can get booted off discogs and banned from selling for doing this…just an FYI.

No. Only these I believe:
These import copies (PC33452) had an AAPO-5 sticker on the lower back cover shrink wrap. Matrix: AL 33453-2A HTM / BL 33453-2A A.
It could very well be limited to a certain quantity.
I don't have the shrink wrap with mine. I would assume this US Matrix info would be printed on the center label?

It comes at a time the PF record label timeline changes away from EMI/Toshiba to CBS/Sony.
The catalog numbers are also completely different from the follow-on 2nd reissue of Sony WYWH.
Title: Wish You Were Here (CBS / Sony Records 2nd issue)
Record Company: CBS / Sony Records
Catalog Number: 25AP 1258

Not sure why they did this unless it was a pressing plant change up.

Yep. Don't want that to happen to anyone here.
I most likely am not the one to initiate it when I make an offer.

All the info is in the deadwax, not on the labels. If it has AL 33453-2A HTM / BL 33453-2A A in the deadwax, it’s an import from the US as that’s the same plates as the first US pressing.

Okay folks, Bowie OG Japan pressings... Anyone got any experience with sound quality they care to share? Specifically the RVP series from around 76...

Oh man this classic records pressing of the Judas concert in Manchester is just mind blowing. The recording is ridiculously high quality and the pressing is gorgeous. Visions of Johanna is pretty much perfect. Also The Band are a force of nature!

I don't have any impex albums, so can someone help me understand what the difference is between this and the cheaper release from earlier this year?

Edit: may have answered my own question, as it looks like the other release was on Ear Music and not Impex. Assuming Impex is likely to be the better of the two, right?

Don’t know Ear music but Impex does awesome work

Another advice question. Anyone have an opinion on what the best mix and pressing of John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band is?

I recently got the Lennon boxset for a good deal, but I'm not loving the mix on this one. The snares are very dominant on the right channel and it's distracting. And some bad sibilance too.

UK originals are probably best but OG US pressings sound wonderful and are cheap
