Definitive Audiophile pressings

I think they might own their music, Geffen gave them a pretty kick ass deal when they signed. They essentially became talent scouts for the label and made money for bringing in band (like Nirvana). Also, they have their own reissue label, Goofin’ (get it… Geffen-Goofin’) where they’ve reissued a bunch of their Geffen albums.
This is correct, hence their sub label under ecstatic peace is Goofin which is set up only to release SY releases.

I also think never reforming has an enormous contribution towards any possibility of remaining cool. No one needs to see a “cool band” reform looking like your dad having a mid life crisis.
This was the funniest part of seeing Pavement a few years back. It was like Stephen Malkmus and the dad bods.
Counterpoint - Dinosaur Jr.
Dinosaur Jr. is and always will be cool. They are the exception.

Most of my friends were very into them as teens, but they never really clicked for me other than the occasional song. I've loved all of Claypool's side projects though. He's great. Primus is just ok imo. But they do have a lot of diehard fans.
I like a decent amount of their early stuff, but yeah it’s mainly because of Les. Dude is so creative.

And speaking of Les side projects, he’s currently working on a bluegrass album of fishing songs with Billy MF Strings!

I saw some news this morning and assumed this would be a good thread to share it.

Yeah, that’s kinda what we’ve been discussing; what this new plant means to MoFi’s ability to press artists and styles beyond Classic Rock and Jazz.

I think the divorce and its fall out not being particularly pleasant had a pretty big part to play in that tbf.
Yeah, I was going to say..."just stopped" is certainly one way to put "the lead members had a nasty divorce because one of them was leading a double life with another woman for years."

Still certainly one of the coolest bands of all time.

The more pressing plants, the better, especially if they strive for quality. I mean they all say they do, but I would expect MOFI means it. Frees RTI to press other things, which is good.

As to whether MOFI chooses to press 90's dad-rock in addition to 70's dad-rock, well who knows. But it does fit into their dad-rock theme.

There's a lot of legitimate genres/types of music MoFi hasn't touched that they could absolutely go for.

I believe of their last 100 releases (sorted reverse chronologically using the Mobile Fidelity tag in Discogs), a whopping four were by women. So maybe a new pressing plant has room for a different chromosome set.

OK snark done but like...there's room to diversify beyond genre here.
