Definitive Audiophile pressings

Agreed but this is partly why I think Sonic Youth wins. Because they were awesome, and then just went away. That's cool.

And they’re the type of band that influence everyone you like. They’re also obscure enough that you could imagine the kids discovering Daydream Nation the old way by a mention or a recommendation and thinking “woah, cool”.

There is something to that. However I like to think that they likely had absolutely nothing to do with it since it was their major label debut and they probably don't own the rights to a single note of it.
I think they might own their music, Geffen gave them a pretty kick ass deal when they signed. They essentially became talent scouts for the label and made money for bringing in bands (like Nirvana). Also, they have their own reissue label, Goofin’ (get it… Geffen-Goofin’) where they’ve reissued a bunch of their Geffen albums.

Could be, I have no idea either way. But now I just really want that Mofi.

Being cool is for the kids really.
The funny thing about that is Kim Gordon is literally the same age as my mother. My mother was maybe cool for a couple weeks in 1978 but I couldn’t say for sure because that was before I knew her. Kim Gordon on the other hand has alway been cool as fuck. It didn’t register with me until very recently that she and my mom are the same age.

Just went away!?!! I’ve got some good news for you. Not only did they never go away but their final 4 albums were some of their best and most critically acclaimed over their stories career. You should really give Murray St. and Sonic Nurse a listen.

Right! But that's what I mean, they made like 20 years of sick albums including one of their best falling third to last in their entire discography and then they just. Stopped.

If @TenderLovingKiller® is in the pulpit, I'm back into organized religion and in the front row.

I think Michael Hutchins untimely death kinda preserves them in the carbon lite of their place and time. It’s like the 80s version of Jim Morrison.
Sticking with the 80s, in addition to Lifes Rich Pageant, I also have INXS’s “Listen Like Thieves” Mofi, my fav INXS album. I had the cassette when it came out. I’d love a killer AAA reissue of The Swing. But I’m pretty happy with this one from 1984. Sounds damn good to me and quiet vinyl. INXS - The Swing
