Definitive Audiophile pressings

Questions I still have...

When did you start copying to DSD?
What are all the titles copied to DSD?
Why didn't you let people know you changed the meaning of "Original Master Recording"
Why didn't you print on the release you copied the master to DSD?
Why did you let all these reviews assume these releases were all analog?

Add to that, when did they get the 4x DSD ADC & what did they use before? They seem to be saying it's all good it's 4x DSD, I thought 4x DSD was a recent innovation.

edit - I'm probably wrong I think they are on 16x DSD now

I would venture to guess that any MOFI vinyl release that has an SACD counterpart was copied from DSD. That said, Pretenders and Let's Get It On had SACD releases so who knows. It would be great for MOFI to be transparent about it.

I think that multiple times DSD has been available for recording and as a file format for a long time. I think from a playback point of view there are not that many available commercial players that go that high and it’s not that easy to get 2x DSD files to buy as a consumer never mind 4x DSD, the vast majority are just DSD from the SACD days.

Another thing is that this was just the 3 cutting engineers...they aren't in charge of MoFi marketing. Someone from Music Direct needs to get asked all these questions too.

These 3 guys are just doing what they can do to make a record sound the best...and I get that. I also think a lot of this may be more what corporate has done.

Apologies if I missed it but does anyone have a link to the MoFi confirmation that they are using a digital sources?

The annoying guy from the overpriced shop who had a crisis of faith interviewed them and put the video of it up on YouTube.

They didn’t so much confirm that they were using digital sources, more that they make a very high rescdigital copy of the analogue master from which they master for vinyl.
