So how do you log single records taken out from a box set in your collection?
To be specific, I got a PIF of Grateful Dead "Reckoning" that was in the VMP Anthology. I want to add it to my collection.
Guess I could just add another pressing and write a note for myself, but my sense of order doesn't like that.
I add the set and make a note. Messes with the value of your collection a bit but one-offs like that won't do my damage. So how do you log single records taken out from a box set in your collection?

If the LP was ever released on its own (as Reckoning has been), I tend to just log it as whichever of those releases seems closest in terms of artwork and value to the one I own from the set and then I just put in a note that I have a different version from the set. That way I can at least see the right album art when I’m scrolling through my collection in discogs and I find it less confusing that way.So how do you log single records taken out from a box set in your collection?

Yeah, I remember logging the Blue Note Anthology for the copy of Lou Donaldson’s The Natural Soul. When I would scroll through my collection and come across the “The Story of Blue Note,” I’d have to try to remember which album I got from there - it was always kind of jarring. Or, I’d go looking for my notes for that album and forget that I needed to look up the set, instead of the actual artist name and album name. This is what I ended up doing. The closest release is actually quite valuable in it's own right (turns out the only other modern reissue is an Analogue Productions), but it's still closer in value than the entire VMP box, and I like to see the correct album cover image when I scan through my collection. I already have a few added fields in my collection, including a notes field so I added a memo to myself there.
Love a VG+ with skips!Got excited about a price on a listing with media VG+ until I read the description: "has 2 small skips on side 1 and one on side 2, plays great otherwise, no real surface noise."
Makes no sense. People are like "disc was scratched by my cat, otherwise NM"Got excited about a price on a listing with media VG+ until I read the description: "has 2 small skips on side 1 and one on side 2, plays great otherwise, no real surface noise."
At least the only surface noise is fake!Love a VG+ with skips!
Yep, and independent of grading I will take loud surface noise all day over a skip, whether it is forward or back. Not that G or G+ even makes sense as a grade (good isn't really good), but skips make it Fair at best. No matter how clean it looks.

Log a preemptive ticket to USPS asking where da F the package is. Don’t mention it to the buyer until necessaryAlright all...what do you do when a package you mailed out seems to be MIA and hasn’t been tracked since April 2? Buyer hasn’t mentioned anything yet though
