Alright all...what do you do when a package you mailed out seems to be MIA and hasn’t been tracked since April 2? Buyer hasn’t mentioned anything yet though
It's still in the delivery window for Media Mail. If it was sent Priority, then it's a little more unusual. At this point, I'd only proactively poke your buyer if you can make your message feel helpful and assuring, which will depend on your creativity and writing skills, if you have little info nor a refund solution that you want to share yet. :)
If it was me, I'd wait another week and, if it's still stuck, I'd let the buyer know I'm aware of the delay and that I appreciate their patience as USPS gets the package through their system. I'd let them know they can return the unopened package, when it arrives, if the delay has caused them to no longer want the item. I wouldn't offer them a refund unless it had really been a long time. This winter, I gave two buyers on eBay a refund after 2-3 weeks of delay, as it seemed like COVID was causing a ton of fully lost packages for lots of sellers, and, both times, the items were delivered 3-4 days after I sent the buyer a refund. Both buyers accepted the refunds and kept the item and I never heard from them and never got feedback, which is their right but at least a positive feedback would have been nice. Lol.
 
Wow, blown away that the first person I reached out to on Discogs in the long shot that they might be generous enough to send me some out of print cd lyric book scans not only did for the album I initially asked for but 2 others as well.

Just wanted to share a positive non-sale related discogs experience. As much as I'm frustrated by the app/UI and you guys are rightly frustrated by merger/voting problems I guess it can be a pretty cool place.

Also, respect to @some_other_simon, who graciously took the time to send me one as well, although hopefully you guys already know how awesome this community is.
 

Is this the limited edition yellow copy of Chemtrails over the country club I got from Bull Moose?

Other than a numbered edition from the UK, I don't see anything labeled as Yellow. I only see Beige. The hype sticker says yellow, and there is nothing in the beige release that says the hype sticker said yellow or a picture that shows the type sticker.

If I were a betting man, if I created a new entry for yellow I'm willing to bet it would be merged with beige for being a duplicate release.

Is it worth adding a Yellow edition or just add the beige edition to my collection and call it a day.

That's total BS. Can't you reclaim the refund through PayPal saying items have been received?

I noticed that the "Bandcamp" label was marked as "Do Not Use"...which makes sense, as Bandcamp isn't a label, but they could still be considered an Exclusive Retailer, so I unlocked it, made the submission, and then locked it again. But to do any subsequent edits to the sub that DO NOT USE tag was keeping the sub from being edited....so I unlocked it for good, as I consider it a retailer that sells exclusive releases.

This is where the discussion is now....is Bandcamp a Retailer?

I get that it is more of a go-between with labels and customers, but even Bandcamp has "Bandcamp is an online record store..." on their website.

I wouldn't call them one, but I also don't think there would ever be a chance of them being added to the LCCN of a submission as an Exclusive Retailer.

I don't consider ebay a retailer, either.

I get that Bandcamp isn't a "normal" retailer. It's not the same as a Target or Wal-mart or even a mom & pop shop, but it is a retail service....and that's where I think people are getting hung up on.
 
Reading the discussion, so funny, people don't like change.

Bandcamp is a retailer/facilitator. Case Closed. Ridiculous discussion point to get hung up on.

As far as exclusive retailer though, maybe not. lets use Discogs as an example, If a band did a deal with Discogs to sell a version only on Discogs then Discogs is still a retailer but you bought the exclusive from the band through that retailer, not from the retailer.

If target just hosts a webpage to let Motorhead sell an exclusive direct to consumer that's not a target exclusive.

Just because Bandcamp is taking a different approach doesn't mean they are any different than Discogs or Ebay. Either of the other two could start doing artist tie-ins tomorrow.

They are all three facilitators (to bands or you and I) and are a marketing campaign away from getting the Exclusive Retailer tag if that's all there is to it.

Bandcamp is the Ebay for music.

Hello discogs people.

I just looked at my mile-long preorder list and my overflowing storage situation and I'm realizing it is time to thin the herd. I've sold a few records here and there, but I'm looking to make things more streamlined and start selling on discogs. I know a few tidbits about the fees and such, but I was wondering if people have a boiler-plate shipping policy template that I can modify or if there are other recommendations that may seems obvious to you now but would be difficult for a beginner seller.

I welcome all input and advice. Thanks!
 
Ok so it looks like the selling process on Discogs is pretty straightforward. I tried to piece together a fair "seller's terms", but I was wondering if you all could look over and give me some critiques. Like "would I buy from a person with these terms"?

Buyer pays Media Mail Shipping within the U.S.
$4 for first 1xLP; $5 for a 2xLP
$1 for each additional 1xLP; or $2 for each additional 2xLP

Buying 5 items or more? Free shipping!

Media Mail is not insured unless requested, and damages during shipping will not be refunded. Please request insurance in the message to seller. Media Mail insurance is usually about $3 for $100 coverage. I pack records well, with bubble wrap and cardboard stiffeners, but I can't be held responsible for whatever the mail carrier does after it leaves my hands.

I grade records conservatively and fairly. If buying sealed records, I am not responsible for defects on the records or manufacturing errors. I will remove the records from the jacket upon request for sealed records to protect from seam splits, but again I will not inspect/refund for defects.
 
The "Shipping Policies" that Discogs requires does allow you to set how your price increases as the buyer adds items. Weight is how I do mine. I don't know if per-item is an option there, take a look at how they do it.
I just fiddled with that and went with per item. I simplified my terms to basically;

Buyer pays $4 Media Mail Shipping within the U.S.
2 to 5 item; $5 Media Mail Shipping
Buying more than 5 items? Free shipping!
 
“I’m not responsible for any damages once I hand it off to the Postal Service” is something you find in some sellers’ terms that sounds great if you’re a seller but it isn’t supported by PayPal, USPS, or Discogs policies. The package is your responsibility until it is marked as delivered and you are responsible for damage or loss. Insurance is something you buy for yourself to protect against potential loss/damage and the buyer doesn’t have to request it to receive their buyer protection that they’ll get the item in stated condition without shipping damage. Some sellers may keep it in their terms because they hope the buyer falls for it and doesn’t ask PayPal or Discogs to step in and help them get their money back on a damaged item.
