Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

I thought of another question (shockingly) haha. When I get my Vincent PHO-8 I am going to purchase the the upgraded power cable. Which made me think...

What should I plug it into? Is it okay to go straight into the wall? I don’t have a power conditioner for my home setup. Just a decent surge protector power strip thing.

Plug it into the power strip.

OMG!

What is going to happen! I’m scared!

Will the universal law of warps existing, and thus you can’t create or remove them, mean that for every warp you flatten another is created?

The world is not ready for this!
No more warps for Mather??? Satan called and said it's freezing down there.
My guess? Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, MASS HYSTERIA.

A little debate :

What's the best cart for my set-up ? I can get a Grado Gold or an Audio Technica AT-VM95SH for pretty much the same price, so I'm torn.

Set up : AT LP5 + NAD 326BEE + ELAC B6.2 + Mofi StudioPhono

I'd go A/T. The Grado may hum in that setup. I'd probably go ML over SH though.

Goot to know. Why the ML over the SH ?

Shibata styli were invented for Quadrophonic records. While some cartridges use them today, they are normally paired with arms that have higher precision bearings. They are also a bit more finicky regarding setup.

A/T invented the MicroLine stylus. It's a great all around choice. More detail yet very forgiving as far as surface noise.

Thank you, I don't have it in my hands yet, likely in a week. It's waiting for me and my astronomical home improvement credit card bills to clear, then I will be flattening a lot of things...
I’m keen to hear of your experiences with this when you get it operational.

You do realise that snce you’ll have this soon that the Cosmos will only starting sending you flat vinyl from now on, don’t you?

If it works as well as advertised I guess you could at least set up a side business charging $10 a pop to right all of the wrongs.

Or retire and live off flattening and selling off your VMP rejects.

I ABSOLUTELY expect to never see a warped record again after I purchase this. It will live in my basement slowly collecting dust but will be providing my karmic shield against further warped vinyl.

As for charging, this is the same machine one of our locals uses to flatten vinyl and charges $15 a disc to do it so yeah, maybe I'll set up a side business...

$15! Robbing bastard!

The hi-if store I buy all my gear from uses the different branded one these, that you said was the same thing, for a similar service and they charge a max of £4 + p&p per record on a sliding scale depending on how many you send in!

Yes, this is not a local I go to on account of their suck factor which is kinda high. @juiceless HATES them.

Oh and yes that's the "Orb", same exact thing but the Japanese branded version and like half the price...
