Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

@duke86fan Rather than jump right away to a new table and cartridge, have you thought about putting a 2M Blue on your current table first? That way you’ll get to know both what the Ortofon sound signature is, and what your table really sounds like. You read everywhere that “the cart is the sound,” but there’s really an interplay with a cartridge and a tonearm, table, etc.

That should be the plan. Try the 2m Blue out for 6-12 months to see if you like it and it's signature sound. Then you'll have a better idea of what you would want when you upgrade your turntable.
getting a used 2M blue one of 3 new years gear resolutions i have

its that
buy some grado headphones (i really liked how those sounded at the hifi shop in atlanta so its either the 80Es, the 225Es, or maybe the hemps.. because i also loved the RSe1's they had)
and get a better DAC for my laptop (Ifi hipdac or audioquest dragonfly depending on a mix of budget and if having to recharge a battery would be an issue)

and thankfully in march @Lord Diaper Baby offered to give me his used one (i will pay him for it)

I don’t know about other reviewers but Andrew Robinson appears to receive a lot of hate mail and I’ve seen him say even death threats. Is that common in the audiophile world? I know some of his views tend to counter what the majority believe but it all seems a bit extreme.
Andrew Robinson gets death threats? Fucking hell. Feels like we need to switch the internet off and back on again to reboot out the craziness...

That gentleman is one of my favorites on YouTube. One of the few channels I'm subscribed to. I find his (speech) mannerisms charming and eloquent. Just absurd and vile to hear that coming from one man's opinions, for gods sake.

Yup, agreed. Him and John Darko are the only HiFi YouTubers I subscribe to. I actually think both are quite similar in terms of style and outlook- both don’t seem to take it all that seriously, which is key. Darko also has great music choices.

How did the Grado 80e compare to the 225e?

He probably has the best video production in the hifi youtube space, that's for sure. And his camera charm is a cut above.
Unfortunately he's less to my taste on his presences. He puts too much praise into the lifestyle needs of products, which isn't normally one of my major focuses. I see his appeal though.

Zerofidelity and Steve Guttenberg are my current favorites. They are both doing little to nothing with production, but I feel like I have a much better sense of their preferences, and both feel significantly more sincere to me. Thomas and Stereo is good too, but I can tell his favorite gear is generally not the sound signatures I prefer most.

I'm subscribed to Zero Fidelity as well. I like his honest-to-goodnest delivery.

I thought it was longer than 1 year, but I started following Andrew after watching his "Vinyl Sucks" video and enjoyed his honesty. I laughed when referred to himself as the Walmart Tom Hardy. I tend to not watch his home theater offerings as I don't really care about that subject. I do find it interesting that he's called expensive cables snake oil and that he doesn't believe that there is a break in period. If you think he's honest in his videos, then his AMAs on his IG stories seem to be even more honest. Someone had asked him about changing out his stylus and he flat out said that he doesn't.
I enjoy Steve as well but sometimes he gets side tracked from the product he's reviewing. I watch Zero as well but he seems to mostly focus on digital listening and not so much vinyl.

It puts out the same power into both 8 and 4 ohms. The important thing is that it’s 4 ohm compatible.

Almost at my "fundraising" goal to get the wharfdale Denton 80s. I expect to be able to pull the trigger on those within the next few weeks.

Next would be the amp but I'm not seeing the NAD C 326bee seems to be a discontinued model. What of their current lineup is worth going for?

316 but post into a line level. I wouldn’t discount a marantz 5006 or 6006, or ps audio sprout100 either

@kvetcha Can you tell me about how you like your Zephry? I'm kicking around a swap as it looks like the ART-9 I love is discontinued in favor of a new model, and they don't appear to be offering trade in pricing on replacement as they were before. I'm wondering about soundsmith as they are rebuildable.
