last question, is it possible that the inner groove distortion is the LP's fault? There is a really loud demanding song that ends side A on Maggot Brain and every time the vocals hit their high, it distorts.
But I'm a Virgo. My wife, now she's a Cancer.I think someday we’re going to find out that everything in existence is a carcinogen…
And the cancers we gained along the way.Someday we will all find out that the real "magic" of those erasers was carcinogens.
Yes. 1000% especially if you're talking about that new blue pressing which is godawful.last question, is it possible that the inner groove distortion is the LP's fault? There is a really loud demanding song that ends side A on Maggot Brain and every time the vocals hit their high, it distorts.

same company, Ace Records UK, just the peach copy.Yes. 1000% especially if you're talking about that new blue pressing which is godawful.
phew. I think I am ok. My system is on the bright side, so that makes sense. I am just scared that I am fucking up my records with a worn stylus.Yes absolutely some LPs are cut too hot or with sibilance. A more analytical system will exacerbate it. It generally can be pinpointed to certain pressings and certain type of music (piano and higher female vocals in particular) and if it’s happening more widely it’s likely to be more to do with system/dirty records etc.
Agree. I was more or less going to say a free turntable is a free turntable, BUT you should look over here at these better options. Especailly since it also seems he was gifted some Japanese pressings...The Crosley appears to have an AT conical cartridge, so the worst case scenario is not there. Can't see a method to adjust VTA, though. Best to stick with compatible AT styli to upgrade. Going past an elliptical would likely be lost on this turntable.

Yeah I would not use that trash pressing as any sort of barometer for setup issues. That thing is just horrid.same company, Ace Records UK, just the peach copy.
afaik melamine sponges use a physical mechanism - the material is an incredibly fine foam with tons of abrasive microscopic edges and pockets that scrape material off a surface. nano-sandpaper, essentially.Yep that works too. I was always a little hesitant with Magic Eraser because I assumed that it was coated in some sort of heavy chemical bleaching agent in order to do what it does, and that combined with Stylus glue scared me. But I've never heard it being an issue so it's likely just me being overly worried about nothing. WHICH IS NOT LIKE ME AT ALL EVERYONE SHUT UP
it was also happening on the last song on Side A of A Night At The Opera, but its not an issue on anything else I can remember. My Kind Of Blue that I played yesterday sounded fabulous, no harshness on Miles at all.Yeah I would not use that trash pressing as any sort of barometer for setup issues. That thing is just horrid.
Was your Queen the VMP press by chance because I had a pressing issue with distortion on that one that I fixed with a replacement copy.it was also happening on the last song on Side A of A Night At The Opera, but its not an issue on anything else I can remember. nope, the new Walmart exclusive. Both mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road. Was your Queen the VMP press by chance because I had a pressing issue with distortion on that one that I fixed with a replacement copy.

What happened?PTSD flashbacks to my headshell 6 months ago…
What happened?
This is correct, it is highly abrasive but in a very fine way. There should be no chemical interaction.afaik melamine sponges use a physical mechanism - the material is an incredibly fine foam with tons of abrasive microscopic edges and pockets that scrape material off a surface. nano-sandpaper, essentially.
