Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

this is the one I have. i found a used/like new on ebay for $100 so might be worth looking at ebay!

I can't say it seems to affect the sound quality at all, but is good piece of mind and seems to work well otherwise.
Not looking for a sound improvement, just with all the recent electric issues we've been having from summer storms and rolling blackouts I thought it would be good insurance.

that's a good point. worth the extra money if you're worried about that!
Yeah, I was reading through the Amazon 1-star reviews and the majority of them had to do with warranty issues after purchasing through Amazon.

I think I will sit on this for the time being.

I have a SurgeX that I got on eBay several years ago to protect most of my equipment; it serves that role well. I don't connect my power amp to it though, because it limits current in-rush which my amp needs for dynamic response. The amp sounds really closed-in on the SurgeX; it says plugged into the wall socket.

I also have Surgex, although I do have my AVR plugged into it. I suspect it doesn't need that same in rush as a power amp.

Hey guys, OG ART9, not the newer ones... is the compliance okay with the Rega Aria stage and the Pro Ject 2Xperience?

It should be fine with the phono, although the gain is a bit higher than where I’d prefer it. Dunno about the tonearm, you’ll need the mad men with their maths and their calculators for that.

Yes I think the ART9 XI is better in terms of gain for my stage. I think, from what I recall. Could be wrong though

Their actually both around .5mV. It’ll be totally fine but if it had adjustable I’d probably be aiming nearer 60dB than the almost 70dB it’s set at for most MC around the .4/.5mV range. I’m sure it will sound just fine though, just might need to reign in the volume a little.

From what I can see the Aria has two gain settings for MC, 69.3 and 63.5?

You are right. Their website is shit. The manual makes sense! The lower one should be much more suitable then! You should be able to play with all 3 resistances that are 100 or over too and decide which you prefer.
