Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

Just to let everyone know, new stylus in, same issue. Definitely the press, as all my other alignment and setup is taken care of. @Mather you were totally right about that Maggot Brain lol

Thanks everyone for your quick help and quelling of my fears! Super thankful for y’all 🙏
it's pretty disappointing that it's 2022 and we still don't have good reissues of Funkadelic. It's crazy how bad the new one sounds even compared to streaming.

The Tidal stream ain't too bad actually.. Was kinda surprised. Not high res but still not bad.

I ended up getting a high res rip of a white label promo and the 2005 Ace reissue, both of which sound miles better than the new pressing. they make the new one sound like it was recorded underwater.

Woof, that's hard to tell. It looks like it might be but I can see so little of the cantilever, and even if the camera was slightly off centre it could create that effect. I mean I believe you that it's crooked but it's pretty hard to tell from that angle. Is it possible to see the whole cantilever?

Next thing you invite him over to the dungeon studio to microscope that thing and well never hear from @highqualityrecords again

OMG I WANT THIS SO BAD YOU GUYS.

Vintage Thorens TD 124 MKII with a custom teak plinth and Jelco 850M 10" tonearm (not as pictured, but that's what it comes with)

Now I'm not certain that just tossing a second tonearm into the new plinth would actually keep with the geometry of how these things are supposed to work BUT THAT'S BESIDES THE POINT WAAAAAANT

Yeah my big turntable want is some form of technics sp10 (I’m not super rich so likely a reconditioned mkII rather than the current r) on a fully wooden, likely walnut, plinth just like that!

the two tonearms would work well. people often do that so you can have a mono cart on one and stereo on the other.

i love the vintage thorens tables with upgrades.

i don't know if Vinyl Nirvana still makes tables, but he's one of the best to restore them and makes really beautiful tables.

Dang that's a good price, but that thing looks like it's been through a war. Also I want the walnut plinth. But yeah that's cheeeeap.

"DOES NOT INCLUDE Ortofon Black Cartridge" which is perfect for @Mather since he already has one of those.

Thorens TD 124 is on the short list of my end game turntables. DO IT!!!

I've been eyeballing this one for weeks.

Going to have to wait though. I just dropped some coin on a Technics SL-1200gr with custom walnut plinth for my home office setup.
