I can get this at half off, which brings it down to a totally reasonable $10,000.
Kinda hoping they bring out a version that DOESN'T include a giant novelty flight case and maybe knocks a couple thousand off the price...
The fact that a $20k turntable looks like this blows my mind. Why does it look like a Toyota Camry?

I'm sure the build quality and specs are amazing but it looks so plastic.

It's a reissue of a classic model that looked pretty much exactly the same. I know I've said this before about this one but it looks like it was competing in the space race in 1969. It would look perfectly at home inside a 1960s lunar lander.

the two tonearms would work well. people often do that so you can have a mono cart on one and stereo on the other.

i love the vintage thorens tables with upgrades.

i don't know if Vinyl Nirvana still makes tables, but he's one of the best to restore them and makes really beautiful tables.

I reached out to Dave a few months ago about a TD 125 and it sounded like everything is special order now. I think he is semi-retired.

You know what, that explains the toggle switch style. Gives off a 70s nuclear power plant control panel vibe.

@Mather Thorens and VPI are quite different, the Throens is spring suspension, vintage, very admired model. They do not last for sale very long. A little finicky, but not bad. Quite a few put double arms on older tables like the Thorens, Gerrards, etc like @MikeH said for Stereo/Mono operation or just to have two different flavors or lengths.

That's a great deal on the Classic, too bad your so adamant on finish or didn't have a shop where you could refinish it. Lots of upgrades available from VPI (Weight, feet, etc)

Yeah I mean it's also just that I'm not in a position to actually be purchasing a new deck right now so all of this is just fantasy. There's a home theatre amp and new projector that has to come first... Oh and also a new roof for my house.
So I might have the money to buy a new deck sometime around.... the heat death of the universe.

Exactly, the original debuted in 1957 and was used in a lot of radio stations and professional broadcasting operations.

This is my big avoid with vintage sp10s. The BBC had an army of them because they were ultra reliable and easily serviceable. Those ones had a hard life and a lot of the used around here come from that stock. I’m probably more likely to import from Japan if I ever can afford what I want to try and get something that hasn’t been worked quite that hard!

Yes I had the same thought. As much as I love the look of that vintage one with the teak plinth, they only replaced the springs on it. Unless it was a near total rebuild I think I'd want to go new.

So my volume knob is making static noise when I adjust it. Is this just a cleaning problem. I have some of the electronic cleaning spray.

I got a custom order from him maybe 5 years ago. I think mine was $1600 shipped? obviously different specs to the one you're asking for. mine has the sit-on dust cover as well instead of the hinged. i added the funk firm mat + cart. he does very quality work if you want to go with the rebuilt thorens/vintage table route.

Oooh. Easy fix. I had the same issue and was very pleased it didn’t take any money or much effort to correct. Just slowly work the volume knob back and forth from min to max (while not playing any music) and it will clean up and crud that is causing the static after few times back and forth the static sound should be gone.

This is one I bought from Dave quite a few years back. Sadly, I haven't used it in a while.
