I’m using balanced for everything bar the one from my table to the phono. I’d like a balanced table eventually but equally if the right one isn’t at the right price it wouldn’t be a deal breaker. I like them they’re a satisfyingly solid connection and yeah they are quiet.

But it’s almost one of those things. Pick the best gear at the right price for you first. If it has balanced cables use them. If it doesn’t use RCAs, ground properly and it’ll sound great all the same.

The cables were no more expensive than their brother and sister RCA from the same range.
 
i need a new portable (at least able to be moved because I listen and play music on my bed) DAC that is hopefully under 300 dollars and sounds good. my 6XX are able to get loud enough at 50% on my laptop but comparing it with my dying hip dac it just sounds like the bass is clearer and I don't feel as overwhelmed

Alright--cart question! Probably for @AnthonyI !

Entertaining the idea of getting a Soundsmith cart as my next move. Probably would want to swap out my MoFi cart for it if that's a good fit....thoughts? I have a 15% off coupon at Music Direct so have been contemplating using it on that...I noticed they seem to have two different Otellos. @AnthonyI which one do you have?

The square-lookin' one is the original Otello. The Otello ES that looks like a space ship is the newer, revised cartridge. I forget what year exactly they made the changeover. 2018, I believe? Fairly significant rework to the cartridge body across the line.
 
I am looking to get a wood case for my Marantz 2270. I remember someone linking me to some options before on here but I am having trouble finding it. Anyone have a place they recommend?

thanks! i'll give a looksie. I think I might go with Soundsmith since I have heard good things and they are located about 10 minutes away from me. They can be retipped/rebuilt right?
