Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

Space isn't so much an issue as it is me wanting to balance simplicity with an obvious upgrade path. That's why I'm leaning fluance because there's easy upgrades and it has auto stop which is great for someone new to the hobby
Yea this is the kinda thing I’ve recommended to most of my friends getting into vinyl. Spend a little more on a turntable that has some kind of upgrade path. Most friends starting out have gotten a Fluance with pre built in that can be turned off. That way if they get really into it later, they can invest in a phono stage instead of necessarily having to buy a whole new turntable.

Yeah my exact thoughts. Plus cheap enough to have money left over for records. I don't know anything about powered speakers over a receiver but it seems like an easy enough thing

Would he take used? Not sure how much a 2nd hand PLX 1000 goes for but could have him set for life

A second hand PLX 1000 can be had for $450 if you look carefully. Still would require a separate phono preamp.
I was thinking if used something like a PLX1000, wharfdale dentons and any second hand amp that comes in at £100 that chucks out more than 50wpc. Pretty sure a good scour round and some good luck can get that within a kick in the arse of the budget.

New special edition Classics dropped.

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.

Yeah I saw them last time I was in a hifi store a couple of weeks back. They also do the mk2 in the walnut you have with the coloured grills as well. They look almost identical bar the two speaker taps for bi wiring at the back. Most of the tweaks are on the inside.

I don't like shiny shiny, but that is better than the JBL.
Yamaha uses the same lacquering process on the NS-5000 that they use on their grand pianos. In person it’s stunning.

The nice thing about PB is that it looks finished, and is very neutral. So if you buy something that’s a different wood, stain, paint the room, whatever, it’s still neutral.

Down side is that PB is a magnet for things like dust, fingerprints, smudges and swirls.

Pick your poison.

I got so many different kinds of wood in my house that it just works at this point. LOL.
