Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

I’ve gotten the go ahead to upgrade my speakers and grab Zu DWX Supremes at $250 but now I’m curious if there’s a more high impact upgrade I could make or if speakers are actually a good next step.

The only thing I’m curious about is my pre-amp.

Would upgrading my Sutherland make more of an audible impact than upgrading speakers? Thoughts anyone?
Your electronics are solid. I would do speakers. I recently picked up a set of Q-Acoustic Concept 50 and have been very happy with them. They soundstage well and have good bass response. They may not be as detailed as you are looking for, but detail is good. They also have a modern look which might not be to your taste.

I also consider the Totem Bison Towers and Triangle Antal 40th before I saw the deal on the Concept 50 on TMR.

Rooms, speakers, and cart’s make the biggest differences per dollar imho.

I had told myself that I was going to go the way of solid state again and not buy any replacement tubes, yet here I am… in the band aid stage after blowing one this morning.

That said, I’d like to get my sights back in and not opposed to doing separates or the integrated solid state route.

Budget wise I’d ideally want to stay below 3k total, which may stretch more than I’d like.

If there’s any suggested pieces I should consider I’m all ears. Again, integrated or separates are fine (as long as we’re not talking giants for space reasons). All of my other equipment is up to date in my signature - noting at some point next I’ll probably replace my Studiodeck.

You could go kinki….

They seem to be nice pieces and the people around here seems to be loving life on the kinki side…

The NAD C399 gets my nod.

Kinki Studios EX M1 or M1+. Build quality is out of this world and I really love how it’s affected my systems sound and it’s a real looker

I don’t know if he has, I’ll run it by him though. Any particular model you would suggest?
The Fusion 9 MKII is one I’ve had my eye on. I’ve heard the F22 integrated amp and it sounded great with a set of Klipsch rp8000. The only excuse I can find to try out some Black Ice gear is the phono stage, but I haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

Anyone have experience with the Pro-Ject Tube Phono DS2 or EAT E-Glo Petit? My brother-in-law is looking to dip his toes into tubes and looking at these.

He will pairing this with an AR The Turntable and Hana EL to a pair of Kef LS50 Wireless 2. Thanks.

I’d leave the pro-jects alone from reputation. I’ve just bought the MM Ear Yoshino Phonobox (Phono Classic in the states) because of how well it reviews. You can get an MC version too but I went with a separate SUT because supposedly that makes it really sing.

I tried one before picking up the used Rogue Ares.
I found for about the same price of the two, the Project was really overpriced.
You need to invest in a much better power supply and set of tubes before it even starts to sound decent.
There's not much going on inside that little Project box. It's mostly air.

A friend of mine was a product tech in Australia for Pro-ject. He got a free DS3 to test and was surprised at how much noise it had, so he reached out to his connections at project and asked if a linear power supply would help reduce the noise they induced. they cut him off from getting free products to test out 😂
