Pharoah - Pharoah Sanders
A late period spiritual jazz classic that is criminally underrated and has not been repressed since it's original release in 1977. This record goes for insane prices when it comes up for sale anywhere, which is rare. I bought the unofficial bootleg reissue from 2008. It sounds fine. Not great, not terrible. In my opinion, there is no jazz recording so desperately in need of a reissue as this one.

Donald Byrd - Street Lady
OG pressing gatefold

The Jazz Messengers - The Jazz Messengers
OG first pressing! This is the first Jazz Messengers studio album, technically. Previous releases were compilations of 10 inch recordings or live albums. This is also the last Jazz Messengers album with Horace Silver. I was going to get the Pure Pleasure reissue until I came across this for an insane price, especially considering the record itself appears NM!

So this little gem came in today.

I know it’s a little early for Christmas music but, this is a song that was not released on any Fitz albums.

Only released on a 7” and it’s only taken me a year and a half wait for a nice price(and to show up for sale)

:)

Really awesome split punk 7" that was just released! This is extra cool, because I'm good friends with both the bassist and the guitarist of The Xiles! They've had a few EPs on CDrs (and digitally, of course), and this is their first vinyl release! Pretty professional pressing (GZ) and sleeve printing. If anyone wants one, I'll post the link once their label's website has them for sale!

Well this is a fantastically exciting purchase!

Herbie Hancock - Maiden Voyage (Blue Note, 1965 First Mono Pressing)

This is my favourite Hancock record and, funnily enough, Herbie Hancocks favourite as well. He initially developed the melody for 'Maiden Voyage' whilst on a plane flying to a gig with the Miles Davis Quintet. While chatting to Wayne Shorter the tune came to his head and he quickly asked for a napkin from the air hostess and scribbled it down. When he exited the plane he realised he had left the napkin on board. Fortunately for all of us, the tune came to him a few weeks later at a recording session!

Man, jealous is an understatement.
Record in pretty good condition?

My favorite Hancock album as well.
Although I’ve been listening to Empyrean Isles a lot recently and it’s really starting to climb to Maiden Voyage heights.

Seems to be in great shape. Empyrean Isles is fantastic as well, I love 'the Egg' its just nuts! Would love a decent pressing one day

Also, one of my favorite indie rock/pop groups is back! Meg & Dia surprise dropped a new album following their reunion for the Rockstar Energy Disrupt tour, and it's amazing! Beautiful color variant, Pure Noise exclusive, limited to 300. Anyone want the download code? PM me!

First album I got in over a week. I’ve loved breaking the get-clean-listen cycle. Also love reigniting with an aural assault via the sonic barrage of Lightning Bolt Wonderful Rainbow.

Unrelated - a peach with a crack I ate today.

Me in 2014: Ew, Taylor Swift? She just makes boring pop music.

Me now:

That Meg & Dia color is sort of how I envision the new Swift on vinyl whenever it comes out
