Fresh Grabs

Love the wooden crate @Lee Newman . I picked up 2 at a couple of different car boot sales (yard sales?) earlier in the year and I prefer them to the actual kallax units I have!

What do people think are perfect record crates? I have the one below upstairs next to my record player for all my fresh grabs and other records to be played but you have to put records in along the longest side as the width of the crate is just too narrow for LPs. I'm running out of space and am thinking of asking a carpenter who's going to make us a couple of beds to make some record boxes. I had been thinking along the lines of you @Selaws but I saw these ones in a shop in Stockholm that are not very tall meaning that a lot of the sleeve is visible (perhaps a little more than in pic below). I don't want to stack them so I'm thinking that could work well (plus he can make them a custom length - longer than most - so they fit my shelves. I'm quite excited, and I need them soon as frankly I'm buying too many records currently...

I have the same problem as you I think, I ran out of shelf space (16 Kallax cubes in total) and saw the crates cheap (£1 each). One thing I would recommend is to line them before you put the records in. I lined mine with thick rubber matting (from ikea and used to line cutlery drawers). The crates I picked up were both waxed smooth on the outside, but left rough on the inside, so it was pretty key for me to line them.

Here's a comparison of the original press of Serj Tankian's Imperfect Harmonies (pressed at GZ) and the new colored, limited, numbered reissue (released by Music On Vinyl). This is the US press of the MOV reissue on white/black marble vinyl. The EU press is on clear w/ black smoke vinyl.

Both have single pocket jackets (the reissue was advertised as a gatefold, but is not). The OG has a single page insert, while the reissue has a very nice, large, full color booklet with the lyrics. The fonts on the back cover and labels looks much nicer on the reissue. No CD with the reissue, unlike the OG. The reissue is on 180 gram vinyl, while the OG feels more like 140. I'm pretty happy with this reissue, definitely improves on the OG press. Grab it while you can, they're selling quick!

I absolutely adore my flipbins. I have one of each size next to my table. The crate above was affordable and seems nice and sturdy. Was $28 bucks from amazon.

With the new shelf I have a total of 40 cubes in the house now. I should be good for the next couple of years and should be able to double that in the house.

A big shout out to @Doctor_of_Jazz for hooking it up with all three of these Lee Morgan titles.

The All Seeing Eye is a white b blue label press and looks pretty nice for what I paid, but definitely looks like it needs a bath. This will tide me over until something nicer comes along. 😎

Tony Williams - Life Time

Dexter Gordon - One Flight Up
Black B pressing
Third attempt at getting a good copy of this finally worked!

Blakey train keeps rolling!
Keystone 3 is a fantastic live album of the lineup briefly featuring both Marsalis bros.

Hard Drive is an OG copy from Bethlehem Records. Johnny Griffin is on sax in this lineup that completely changes before the group's next album, Moanin'.

One Flight Up is one I’ve been meaning to upgrade for a hot minute. Such a great, under talked about Dexter Gordon album.

Awesome grabs
