Fresh Grabs

A couple of big wants off my list among these. Especially Bone Thugs & Eazy E.
I had absolute panic and anxiety all day over this Bone vinyl though. I opened it and dude had posted it with no stiffners just wrapped in newspaper quality poster and flimsy cardboard see photo. I checked vinyl and its a super clean EU press from 95 but when I hold the vinyl by the edges you can see a concave in it like there is a weight sitting in the centre making it dip. So I've been in work all day travelling the country fixing electrical equipment with this on my mind upset and furious. I get home put it on turntable it plays perfect, doesn't look warped when spinning at all. A lot happier now but for an expensive piece I have still had to contact the seller who is friendly. Lets see what they say phew! What a day 😢😂 this is the only place i can vent about such first world problems like these so apologies and thank you too

You did well with the RSD picks. I'll be interested in what you think of the Sun Ra & Gene Russell picks.

I had Gene Russell in two different baskets when the website failed & then actually completed the purchase & got an order number from Rough Trade, only for their system to fail in processing the order.

I must have looked at the wrong times, or places. I’m sure more copies will surface at some point. 🙂

And in newcastle of all places

This week's haul:

A couple of second-hand VMP Classics that I dragged my feet on and missed out on. Luckily didn't have to pay too much over subscription prices for these.

A couple of early 2000s rap records to relive my youth.

Recent VMP ROTMs. I typically prefer plain black, but I think all 3 of these colors came out real nice.

Unfortunate print placement on the label. Missed out on the new album this year, glad to grab this one from last year on the recent re-stock.

Random mix of albums here. Beatles is the 2014 mono press that was actually priced relatively reasonably. Looking forward to spinning the Clairo, as I really liked Diary. The Inez Foxx is some nice 70's soul that I've wanted for a while. The Numero Group is a comp of 45s from the Capsoul label that would otherwise be way out of my (and most people's) price range.

Some soul 45s. Favorite of the bunch is probably the Elihue Flower - some nice Caribbean-tinged soul.

Attended a fundraising record sale for a local independent radio station. Well planned with tables of records sufficiently distanced, only 4 people allowed at a time (pre-scheduled half-hour slots). Lots of records. I was surprised by the number of jazz albums I was able to find. Ended up picking up 26 records all together. Here are some highlights:

Most of the vinyl looks to be in surprisingly good (read that: VG+ or better) condition. Prices seemed fair, keeping in mind this was for a non-profit/good cause I've supported for many years.

That's absolutely awesome

Some non-Jazz grabs for the first time in a while.

Concerto / Platomania have been killing it with their exclusives and I've got to know their support staff really well because I always need to have them readjust my special German address which comes out scrambled on their website. Burial - Untrue has been on my list for a while, seeing a coloured exclusive gave me the push to pick it up. Franz Ferdinand's debut was one of my favourite as a teen. Still love the album

Gave the deep discount blowout bin a try. Grabbed these two for less than 20€ shipped which is a great deal, and arrived fairly quick, well packed and no issues really. That Flying Lotus album gets a bit of stick but at this price it's really worth it and has some really nice moments. The Morricone Youth re-score of Mad Max was something I heard 4 years ago but could never find a copy locally so that worked out well with the low price on deep discount. I've never actually seen Mad Max but I like this soundtrack a lot.

Snapped this OG Euro press of RATM up on discogs. It was listed at VG+ but I spoke with the seller, had him playtest it and send pics. The cover is a bit worn but the OIS is intact and the record is closer to NM so I'm pretty happy at 30€.

Great grabs! Franz Ferdinand was the first gig I went to in my early teens. I crowd surfed to the front, fell forward in front of the stage, and broke my arm. Didn't realise until I got home. Great gig!

Fresh grabs are about to get that much fresher!

I've been on the lookout for a record cleaning machine for a while and the day before this deal was posted I spent a few hours in a youtube rabbit hole watching comparison videos and the like. Like a superhero, @Rowan swooped in and linked a 20% off deal on this Pro-ject VC-S2 ALU which was too good to turn down. A chunk of the UK crew bought these so there will be plenty of clean records on the forum from now on!
