Satoshi Ashikawa - Still Way (Wave Notation 2)



This Columbian comp from Spain's Vampisoul is a digger's collection of booty-shaking Afro-Columbian cultural treasures from the '70s through the '00s. Highly recommended for Latin music lovers.

Still Way is yet another classic '80s Japanese ambient/environmental/minimalist album along the lines of Hiroshi Yoshimura’s Green, which received a much higher profile release from Light in the Attic earlier this year. Unfortunately the Still Way pressing, by WRWTFWW Records, is terrible. A side note for @Rip_City: this album is the inspiration for Gareth Quinn Redmond's Laistigh den Ghleo.

Duke Garwood - Garden Of Ashes



Two swampy, smoky folk/blues/soul albums -- one upbeat, one downbeat. This is the first vinyl release for Blackwater; it was $$$, but I couldn't resist. Garden of Ashes is brilliant.

Unfortunately the Still Way pressing, by WRWTFWW Records, is terrible. A side note for @Rip_City: this album is the inspiration for Gareth Quinn Redmond's Laistigh den Ghleo.

Sorry to hear about the rough press... mine seems to be tolerable. It's cut noticeably hot. Thinking about the sound of both of these, the inspiration for the latter is clearly there.

I picked up the Spacehog and Garcia from my local today to treat myself (as if I needed an excuse). Spacehog’s 2nd album is great and kept putting off picking up the reissue. I thought I had missed out but thankfully my LRS had a few in stock. The Garcia is an original press but is in perfect condition I initially thought it was a reissue because it was so clean. The Arlo McKinley LP is amazing one of the years best and was going for less than $15 on Amazon this past week so I scooped that up too.

You should. I'd say it is an A+ pressing. Also has a nice gatefold, poly-lined inner sleeves. Remix LP comes in its own jacket as the 3rd LP. Also in a poly-lined sleeve. I've only listened to one side thus far, but it sounds great. Plus, there's a John Hopkins remix on this one, so that's really the cherry on top for me.
