Fresh Grabs

My son bought me lunch today, picked it up and brought it home. He ran into this little resale shop next door that I pop into when I'm around there because they usually have a handful of older albums. He texts me they have a Beatles album for $15..........while the history of this album is well documented, the completionist in me couldn't pass it up at that price, I'm trying to collect the MoFi's to match my mono box.

He got home and it's in NM condition with all the inserts, nice "remote" score :)

For fucks sake, this Bill Withers sounds amazing! Thanks to everyone spending my money for the recommendation. Needed to stop by the local today too, a lot of the jazz stuff was in along with a couple indies.

I took off work early on Friday and headed over to my LRS. I didn’t have anything in mind but I found a good selection of early original Soul Asylum LPs for a reasonable price. As a 90’s kid Soul Asylum was always the “Runaway Train” band (though, I always really dug their first single “Somebody To Shove”) It wasn’t until later in life when I started learning about The Replacements and Husker Du that I discovered Soul Asylum was apart of the same scene and that their earlier work was much more in line with those groups. Still I hadn’t really spent the time until recently checking out their earlier efforts but once I did I was very pleased with what aI heard.

The Daniel Norgren was purchased from his Bandcamp page when I also preordered his upcoming live album.

LOL! Oh yeah, There was a guy I used to work with that had a garage full of old still packaged Starting Lineup figures. He was selling off his collection and though all the really good ones (the Michael Jordan’s) had already been sold off. I was able to go through and grab a few. He was selling em for $3-$4 a pop which is what they went for back in the day so I picked up a few. I gave some away a gifts over the years but I still have a few of em.

I have a 1995 Ewing one that’s still sealed. My nephew stayed with us last summer and the fact that it was still sealed drove him CRAZY. My favorite part though was when he said “oh wow 1995...so he’s dead by now I reckon!” 🤣🤣
 
I didn’t think it would actually come through, but this got delivered today from Sound of Vinyl. Accideal that ended up being around $85 shipped. They also shipped separately from the Harry Nilsson MoFi that was the same accideal but has no formal release date yet.

Heard back from UDiscover and this “jazz calendar” was a free add on they say. Unfortunately in my account it says my order for The Roots was “fulfilled” even though it won’t ship until sometime in March so I think they are just trying to cover their ass.
 
I'll be honest, I didn't think this was ever gonna pop up. It also completes, for now, my Sarah Jarosz collection (solo and I'm With Her) though she's still on some compilations I don't have. Just overjoyed to get a copy of my favorite release of hers and the album that introduced me to Americana.

If I hadn't picked up the AP pressings early last year I would have jumped on the One-Steps.
