Fresh Grabs

@MikeH oh yeah that was me. I'm obsessed with this box set. It's an absolute treasure start to finish. I can't believe i had never heard of him, or that all of the people i know that RLY know music hadn't either. My best find of the year hands down. The book is amazing
it's really really great. i'm just starting to dig into it more today. i think maybe the ebay listing was incorrect but they sent it to me anyway. was pretty surprised that they listed it for so cheap. even at full price it seems like a great deal.

i love discovering stuff like this too, so thanks again! really had no clue who he was either before your post.

Well as the label was going out of business they were selling these for half off with free shipping...like $45 shipped. I'm sure some flipper bought copies thinking they could turn a buck then realized barely anyone knows the guy so probably offloaded at a loss to clear space lol

haha might be the case! it's also a great companion piece to the VU matrix box set i got last week.

Just in time for Christmas (2022) this came today:

Also in the mail:

And awaiting pickup from my local:

A couple Christmas gifts and a few more random pickups! The Super Deluxe George Harrison was an awesome surprise and something I didn't think I was going to get since I had already grabbed the Splatter version. It's a beautifully done box, looking forward to flipping through the book and listening to it all.

Got all 4 of these randomly at different places for great prices.

Nora Jones - I Dream Of Christmas

Lots of good stuff this month. Everything this month was brand new. The first portion were reissues and the second portion new releases. My biggest “get” was probably Double Nickels On The Dime. My local got a 3 copies of the new reissues in stock and they were gone in 10 minutes. I was also happy to add two of my favorite new artists of the past year in Ducks LTD. and Squid. I got the other two Spiritualized reissues I needed. I went with the black pressing of Pure Phase since GITD vinyl usually blows. I grabbed Ivory pressing of Let It Come Down to replace my shitty Plain pressing. The Neil Young and Cooley/Hood/Isbell live albums both sound fantastic (especially NY). The unofficial Drive-By Truckers reunion live album was a steal, 4xLPs for $16. Happy to own New Adventures In Hi-Fi on wax, one of R.E.M.’s best 90s albums and fairly underrated (though not around here). The new The War On Drugs album doesn’t disappoint, another quality release by a band that’s discography is chocked full of em. Lastly, pleased to had a couple new seasonal albums Haunted House Party is a nice DJ mix that incorporates dusty grooves with spooky sounds and is probably funky enough to spin year round and a Nora Jones Christmas album seems like a winning combo though it’ll be a few more weeks until it hits the turntable.
Just stumbled across this post, I’m so jealous of that Double Nickels. I have yet to see one in the wild.
I just spun Ballot Result tonight and it made me long for it.

Yeah, I lucked into it. They keep repressing in small amounts. My local got 3 copies and posted it online along with the rest of their restocks and when I went to pick it up they said all 3 copies had sold within 15 minutes of them posting.

I didn’t know they were doing represses. My buddy who works at an indie shop said theyre OOP. I’ll have to ask him again.

Very slowly. It seems like SST releases a few dozen copies into the wild every few months…

Think whenever Greg Ginn needs some rent money, he goes out to the garage and a grabs a few copies to sell
