I figured you would already have these. Do you just buy everything from Colemine and not Karma Chief?
I chilled out on 7s last year because pregnancy (I may have mentioned this before, but damn my insurance is great) and my wife’s maternity leave was weird and she had reduced salary for the time she was out (didn’t even get paid for half a month)

Collin Bates Trio - Brew (Fontana, 1968 First Pressing)
The Dick Morrissey Quartet - Here And Now And Sounding Good! (Mercury, 1967 First Mono Pressing)
The New Departures Quartet - The New Departures Quartet (Transatlantic Records, 1964 First Pressing)
The Joe Harriott Quintet - Abstract (Columbia/Capitol Records, 1963 First US Pressing)
Elton Dean - S/T (CBS, 1971 First Pressing)
Mike Westbrook Concert Band - Release (Deram, 1968 First Mono Pressing)
Don Rendell Quintet - S/T (Tempo, 1956 First 7" Pressing)
Graham Collier Music - Mosaics (Philips, 1971 First Pressing)

One hell of a British jazz haul trickled over to me in the past week. A few of these were pre-Christmas purchases that were understandably delayed. Collin Bates' 'Brew' is an album that I have been searching for well over a year now, checking Discogs and a few other websites almost daily and also popping into my regular shops with no luck, so I'm thrilled to have finally got a copy. The Dick Morrissey is another big hitter, with this one having a sleeve in fantastic condition and the record having seen better days. There are obvious marks to it but it plays incredibly well, impressively so, and im certainly happy with it. The New Departures Quartet was a group/album that was mentioned quite a bit in Stan Tracey's biography (written by his son Clark) and coincidentally I had the opportunity to buy this copy just a few days after finishing the book. While I would love to get a first British pressing of Abstract it just isnt a realistic goal at the moment (mega money and rare as hens teeth) so this US copy it the next best thing. Elton Dean is a British musician that I was unfamiliar with but I have heard good things about this album. I was lucky enough to add yet another of both Mike Westbrook AND Graham Collier albums to my pile as well, plus a tastey Tempo 7" from Don Rendell. Phew!

The Yusef Lateef Quintet - The Sounds Of Yusef (Prestige/Esquire, 1957 First UK Pressing)
Miles Davis Quintet - Miles Davis Blows (Prestige/Esquire, 1955 First UK Pressing)
Elmo Hope Quintet - S/T (Blue Note/Vogue, 1955 First UK Pressing)

Another bunch of rarities, this time being UK pressings of US albums. The creme of the crop here is the Elmo Hope release, which was originally on Blue Note. I actually prefer the UK cover art personally and the music itself is incredible. The Yusef Lateef is another great one, this time being on Esquire (the factory was originally in the next town over from me apparently). Finally, a Miles Davis 10" which was 1 of 3 in the series, 1 having a green hue, 1 having a pink hue, and this red one. I already have the green so I'm just looking out for the pink now.

The Milcho Leviev Quartet - Blues For The Fisherman (Mole Jazz, 1980 First Pressing)
Barbara Thompson's Paraphernalia - Live In Concert (MCA, 1980 First Pressing)
Sarah Vaughan - Sarah Vaughan Sings (Allegro Ellite, 1956 First 10" Pressing)
The Gerry Mulligan Quartet - Gene Norman Presents The Gerry Mulligan Quartet (Vogue Records, 1954 First 10" Pressing)
Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse All-Stars - Vol. 2: In The Solo Spotlight (Contemporary Records/Vogue Records, 1954 First UK 10" Pressing)

Last weekend I had the chance to visit a record shop near some family (Ben's Collector Records in Guildford) and it was RAMMED with jazz albums. I have been through most of them before Christmas but still managed to find a couple of albums. The Milcho Leviev Quratet is one that I have been waiting on for ages. It's actually part of Art Peppers residency at Ronnie Scotts in 1980, which was released by Pure Pleasure as 'The Complete Art Pepper at Ronnie Scotts". Interestingly, I have a tape-recorded during the residency which does not appear on this release or the Art Peppers! Whilst I was in the shop I was about to leave when I noticed a few boxes under the main rack in the corner and was stunned to see mountains of jazz 10" releases, with the 3 I picked out just scratching the surface of what they have.

Various - The Sound Of Jazz (Columbia/Fontana, 1958 First UK Mono Pressing)
George Russell And His Orchestra - New York, N.Y. (Decca/Brunswick, 1959 First Mono Pressing)
Barbara Thompson / Rod Argent - Ghosts (MCA, 1982 First Signed Pressing)
Buddy DeFranco - Buddy DeFranco Plays Benny Goodman (Verve/His Masters Voice, 1957 First UK Mono Pressing)

This is a bunch of random bits, some of which were a quid at my local charity shop. The Barbara Thompson had a scrap of paper included which is signed by both Barbara and drummer/her husband Jon Hiseman.

Cleveland Eaton - Plenty Good Eaton (Black Jazz, 2020 Rough Trade Exclusive Pressing)
Tribe - Hometown: Detroit Sessions 1990-2014 (Stut, 2020 First Pressing)
Jazz From Detroit by Mark Stryker (University of Michigan Press, 2019 First Edition)

Finally, a couple of purchases from the Rough Trade sale and a book which was a Christmas present from my Fiancée's sister.

@Poly-Rythmo guess what just turned up? Never doubt Royal Mail x Deutsche Post 😉

Thanks so much for the PIF. Glad they made it through without extra import fees as they've been overlooking the 'gift' lately and charging VAT there too.

Fantastic. Not sure how you charge VAT on a gift valued at zero though (at least that was my logic). Enjoy!
