Fresh Grabs

Anyone have a link to the stream this? I can’t seem to find it anywhere?

Someone had posted a video of the complete album some time ago, but I couldn't find it just now on a search, so it might have been taken down. It was a vinyl-only, no digital release - so no streaming sites, or even a download code when purchased from Bandcamp. (Which was a disappointing realization, as I figured I could give my friend the record and at least keep the digital version. Guess not!)

Mail call!

Another record for when the wife isn't around...

And unfortunate timing as I'm just about to take the 4-year-old back to his mom's so we'll have to wait another week on the story record I ordered for him. It's accompanied by a couple of cheap add-ons to maximize my shipping cost - including one by my old neighbour in Vancouver from 40 years before I met him...

That Hawk/Terry is one of my absolute faves! I have the Classic press mastered by the late Stan Ricker which is awesome sauce. I have to pif my 2 original copies one day. But you can find a good copy usually for 5-$10.

Well fuck…

Purchased this during the UDiscover music sale on 12/27 It was shipped via UPS Two day Air and arrived in Tacoma on 12/29 where it would spent the next two weeks being loaded onto and off of UPS delivery trucks. Everyday I would get a notice it was out for delivery and every day it wouldn’t get delivered… Until today when it finally arrived with massive seam split that I am willing to bet wouldn’t have been there had it not been loaded on and off the delivery truck a dozen or so times. Oh well, I contacted UDiscover and it looks like they are still in stock hopefully I can get a replacement.

Go on over to Susan's house, she's gonna make it right.

Might have gone a bit overboard this week with the purchases:

Explosions in the Sky - All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone (I honestly cannot believe I managed to get this for $21.99 CAD)
TV On the Radio - Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes (one of my faves from that period)
Donald Byrd - Places and Spaces (Blue Note Classic)
Joy Division - Closer (40th)
The National - Alligator
Louis Armstrong & Ella Fitzgerald - Ella and Louis (Verve 60th)
Justin Townes Earle - The Saint of Lost Causes
Snoop Doggy Dogg - Doggystyle

Got some new stuff - clockwise from top left
Bibio - Hand Cranked
Bernard Purdie - Soul is....Pretty Purdie
Michael Jackson - Dangerous (PIF courtesy of @imajindat - Thanks again!!)
Hudson Mohawke - Hudson's Heeters
The Books - The Lemon of Pink
The Books - Thought For Food

1st 2 from Rough Trade, 3rd is from PIF, 4th is from an amazon sale, and 5-6 from their bandcamp!

Went looking for vinyl at a local thrift shop and came away with an alternatively analog bundle. I was able to cherry-pick through about 60 cassettes, and the deck seems to be in good/functional shape, though I haven't hooked it up yet. Listening to Bowie on another deck and I'm always surprised by how good these little tape-and-plastic marvels sound given the lengths I go to with my vinyl in the quest for SQ. :p

Nice! Cassette are like records used to be 15 years ago, most people don’t give a shit and that is fine by me.

Random question I don't know where to shove (but I guess there is a fresh grab to be had in here):
Is blackdm.com the official Depeche Mode store? Because I'm wondering why the hell is Black Celebration $69 + shipping when I just spent $30 at my local?

So I guess the fresh grab is Black Celebration by Depeche Mode :ROFLMAO:

Just landed:

"Mass Romantics" by New Pornographers, generously PIF'd by @LeSamourai and kindly flattened by @AnthonyI (the record, not the dog), thanks gents!

Avant Saturnian jazz:

Ambient krautrock:

The cover had a teeny tear, so it was $50-something from Amazon Warehouse, but it's sealed and everything inside is mint, so it was a steal

And Jazzy Afrobeathop:

Raven was not impresseed with any of these, but admittedly she's more into classical.

Every month or so I drop into a place called the Used Book Superstore which is pretty much one of the few refuges of "people dumping their old records and pricing just being per record" that we have left. This time around, in a sea of some of the stalwarts of dollar bin glory (classical, holiday, Air Supply) was a handful of Waylon Jennings original pressings. Of the five, one was mismatched to a different sleeve and in rough shape and one was clearly not gonna be playable, but these three turned out pretty decent. Lots of love over the years but they all play pretty well (VG to VG+ type play) and sleeves held the integrity even if some dog got a good chomp of one a while back. Really fun releases
