Fresh Grabs

These grabs are @Skalap fault. However, looking at everything he grabbed from fnac, I got off easy šŸ˜‚

I still can't believe I got this 7LP Ray Charles Box-set for only ā‚¬43 šŸ¤Æ Just finished spinning the first record and it sounds phenomenal šŸ„°

Btw, they came in a ridiculously big box šŸ¤£

After seeing all those random big amazon boxes, being empty besides the record, I got worried they might have gotten damaged, but luckily they packed well... although maybe a bit more bubblewrap would have been good...IMG_20190628_102339.jpg

A nice VG+/NM 1975 Japanese press with no Obi.

And my number two Tone Poet, number one being Wayne Shorter. This is an absolute pleasure to own, Lee Morgan is the man.

And @uvwxVinyl , canā€™t find where I preordered it from and itā€™s not on their Bandcamp but prices are $20-25 on discogs. Including shipping it would be slightly less than what I paid.

2 Amazon steals (Hamilton deluxe for 70$ CDN and that Muddy Waters Friday Music pressing was 20$ CDN because of a tiny corner bump, it usually sells for around triple that).
2 Discogs finds (I've been looking for that OG Streethawk for so long, I've only ever seen a handful of copies for sale and it's really in NM condition)

While I was out today I found yet another Daptone 45 (this one being ā€œMaelstromā€ by Budos Band) and Jack Whiteā€™s ā€œSixteen Saltinesā€ (the only Blunderbuss single I didnā€™t yet have)!

Isnā€™t there a B Side to the 45 for ā€œMaelstrom?ā€

And ive been spinning V a lot recently. Gets better every listen/spin.

DJ Kicks - Peggy Gou (2019 on !K7 Records - Limited to 100 copies)

The 'Enhanced Limited Edition' copy of Peggy Gou's DJ Kicks arrived this morning. The 2LP gatefold is signed by Peggy, and includes a polaroid collage and a really cool lenticular postcard (the album cover with/without the tiger and a couple of stats on the decline in the tiger population and a link to a website on the back). Pretty nice set but unfortunately the corner of mine is slightly bent.

My Hot Chip deluxe version came in a few days ago. All and all pretty minimal, but I like it. Even the records themselves are in that vein with the white labels. Beyond the vibrant color of the vinyl itself, of course. You need to check the run-out to figure what side you're on, but it's pretty easy to identify.

The back cover is signed by each band member. Again, minimal, but it has the effect of highlighting the signatures.

Above all the pressing is absolutely beautiful. Flat records, great sound. And I'm really digging this album. Right up there with their best outings (of which there are several in my book). This is a definite keeper that will get serious table time.
